This thread just made me not want to get a JuiceBox.
You don't need the app at all for the Mach E, the car can set all the scheduling
First, the app just changed. Up to now, the old app and the website were far superior to other interfaces. You might as well get the Grizzle charge. It's cheaper and you don't have to worry about the Juice Box crappy app.
Second, there are reasons to not buy a barebones charger.
1) Possible rebate / discounted price from your utility company. Mine gave me $500, but required I buy either the JB or ChargePoint units. Some actually sell the units for a discount vs. giving a rebate.
2) Some units, like the JuiceBox, provide the ability to share a circuit between multiple units. So I can have one 60amp circuit, two JB48s, and charge two vehicles in the future. The Grizzl-E doesn't have that capability.
3) If you have peak and off-peak hours, the JuiceBox can be set for the same hours, preventing electricity usage outside those hours without your direct action. So, if I remote start during peak hours, I know that my JB isn't supplying power unless I tell it to. Same with setting a departure time. Can't do that with a Grizzl-E.
4) If all that matters is money, let's compare math. I got my JB48 for $625 plus tax, call it $650. I then got $500 back from my utility company, spending $150 net. I then got a 30% tax credit, spending $105 net. Had I bought the Grizzl-E, I would have spent say $425, got no rebate from my utility company, got a tax credit of $127.50, and have spent $297.50. So, for me and many others, the JuiceBox is in fact less expensive.
