$2400 / 3 years vs. $600 is a 400% increase. That HAS to be a mistake, otherwise Ford is making a huge blunder here. @Ford Motor Company, I'd run this up the flagpole, because if this is wrong, you're getting a lot of bad press. If it's right, yikes!

"Would you pay $75/month or $800/year for BlueCruise"

Not a chance. I don't even use the lane keeping/whatever it's called function that I have, other than just to amuse my daughter when she's riding with me. Ford is high if they think this is a fair price to use something already installed in a vehicle I purchased. I might pay something like $50 a year, but even that's iffy.

I'm on a 3-year Ford Options plan with my 2022 MME. If $800/yr is what I can expect for renewal of BC then it'll play a big factor in whether to give the car back when both Ford Options and Bluecruise expire at the same time. This is unreasonable, it's 4x higher than was understood earlier, and IMHO it's a bait-and-switch (though I'm sure others will disagree). If they pull this nonsense for 21/22 owners then my next vehicle won't be a Ford. There are a lot of options now.

I should also add that I wouldn't spend $2100 at purchase time for 3 years either given the hardware is already there. I'd pay $2100 for a lifetime subscription that stuck around with the car.

If part of the cost was extra hardware, and thus potentially making it easier to sell in the future or retain higher resell value, then I'm more likely to spend the money even if after 3 years it required a subscription. But I would eschew spending $2100 from the beginning since the next owner could just activate it himself.

So basically:

* I'd spend $2100 (or some reasonable fee) for a 3-year subscription if it meant the car was built with extra hardware, because maybe the next owner would want the hardware.
* I'd spend $2100 for a life time software activation that stuck around with the car, even if it didn't add hardware.
* I'd personally spend no money ever on a subscription for BC, although a $10-$20 monthly fee wouldn't be unreasonable if it actually kept other costs down for people who didn't want the feature.

Not really. For mine as an example 2021 MME I paid for the hardware in the price of the car (I forget the exact amount) like $1400-$1500. So that is paid already. Then it was going to be $600 more for the software. So it would be about $1,900 all in total for 3 years of hardware and software.

Now for the 2023.5 they are not paying for the hardware upfront unless they chose the $2,100 upfront payment option for 3 years. Which is $700 per year if you break it out to 3 years. Which is slightly more than it was in prior model years.

If a 2023.5 buyer choses not to pay upfront then they can do either 1 year at $800 (to cover a proportion of the hardware and software) or 1 month at $75 (which would be $900 per year, again pro-rating the hardware and software costs).

I'd bet the $600 software costs for pre-23 buyers remains the same when it's time to renew, because we've already paid for the hardware.

What is your Ford Options buyback price for a 2022 model year? I think my 2021 is something like $25k.
Consider selling the car at market rate if its higher than Ford's contractual offer.

If you drive with one hand on the top of the wheel, you are blocking the sensors...
great point except I do it from the left hand side. However you are right. I will do it today and make sure about hand placement. Thanks. That could be the issue subconsciously. I try the side but maybe switch to middle.I will let you know

Doesn't matter which side, a hand at the top of the wheel, on the Mach-E, blocks the sensors. Small screen mounted on the steering column, cannot be blocked.

The Lighting has the sensors to the side of the wheel, because they had more room to work with.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Would you pay $75/month or $800/year for BlueCruise hands free highway driving? This will be option for 2023 Mach-E Handsfree with arrows

I don’t have the numbers in front of me, but I totally agree. If the market price is higher then I’d probably try to sell on my own.

This makes more sense. If that's how it is, then I get it.

A friend shared this with me.

Notice the annual or monthly options for BlueCruise. And also, Ford is watching the market to see our feedback. So, what do you think?

I have zero interest in BC, and would never want or use hands-free driving, ever. So for Market Research purposes, put me down as $0 for ANY subscription services

That's what I keep saying. But there are obviously far more people interested in declaring that the sky is falling. It's amusing that so many people are adamantly saying that they would NEVER pay that kind of money for BlueCruise. Yet most of them already did.
