Yeah, my Ford Options plan ends in mid-2025 and it seems hard to imagine that it will make financial sense to keep the car at that point, though I haven't looked closely at the numbers yet.
When the time comes, I highly doubt you would be able to buy the exact same year and spec used Mach-E for less (including taxes on the purchase, don't forget) than what your Ford Options payoff. And even if you did find the same or newer model used for less, would it really be worth rolling the dice and risk buying a car that someone else had traded in because it was troublesome?

This is how I'm approaching the decision when the time comes for me next spring.

I will add, that when I bought my car I fully anticipated that I'd be tired of it by the time the 3 years were up, and also that there would be less expensive and more advanced options available in the market that I'd rather have. So far, that hasn't come to pass.

Yeah, it's a very good point. I'm not too worried about it either way and I've got plenty of time to watch this play out!

If Ford has a problem selling Mach-Es because they are no longer the new hotness and the economy has cooled, then they just need to unlock the performance of the GTPE to get everyone excited again.
I'm not sure what you mean by "unlock the performance"? The GT and GTPE have the larger motor in the front of the vehicle, so you can't increase the performance via software.

Okay, 266 bhp is the rear motor of the Select RWD. So, theoretically, if the GTPE has 2 of said motors, that it would produce 532 hp, not 480. Now, sure, there is some loss, but unlikely to be 52 hp of loss with two paired motors, one driving its own axel.

After 5 seconds of acceleration, the GTPE cuts hp almost to half. It does this as a supposed thermal mitigation strategy. There is a ton of performance left in the table with this car, all software throttled and governed. There are a few in depth explanations in the forum of this, and the top speed of the car is governed at 124 mph, but I don’t care much about the top speed, it’s about how throttled the car is above about 75.

Of course the performance of the vehicle is throttled by software, what else explains it?

I'm definitely seeing more BEVs on the road in NH now but mostly Teslas and ID.4s. I want Ford's Model E to be successful but I don't exactly mind that my MME is still kind of a rarity around here.

Loading groceries that fit perfectly on the back seat and floor (no center bump) made me, once again, appreciate the practical aspects of this car. My year+ experience has been genuinely terrific. Now if they would just fix the janky software (gonna say this in every post ?). Oh and I did see yet another Grabber Blue come and go from my dealership's special order lot.

Many dealerships in south eastern pa have Mach E's on dealer lot. Looks like folks are not buying them due to lack of tax rebates or economy.

Tesla seems to sell, due to the rebates. My friends Tesla MY is just 5 weeks old, the plastic around the bumper looks dated within 5 weeks of staying out in PA sunlight.

I drove by a Ford delaership over the weekend and saw what looked like 10 Mach Es lined up out front. Later I got on their web site, they have twelve 2023 models for sale right now. Seems demand is waning.
my local dealer has plenty (19), but they think so highly of themselves and the MME that they are STILL adding $3-5k market adjustment on GT & GTPE. I told them to pound sand

Same here in SO Calif.

My dealer I just picked my ordered MME at MSRP is still tacking on ADM (Lightning, Bronco, Maverick, Ranger, and a few MME GTPE).

But most of the MME (Select, Premium, and GT) are MSRP.

Even found a rare Cyber orange Select at MSRP this weekend!

It wasn't over for Porsche, Lucid, Hyundai, BMW (I think?) and pretty much anyone not Tesla, GM, Ford, Toyota, Nissan. Everyone else other than those 5 doesn't = "all" as you claim.

Add in VW, Volvo too?
Very true. Good point. The old wording of the EV tax credit sent US taxpayer dollars to any company anywhere in the world for over a decade to help EV adoption. The new wording for the IRS tax credit is more about national/economic/climate security and more selective about where money from US taxpayers is sent, but I believe all those companies can still get access to it without a 200k sales limit.

This is probably the only part that does make sense- our tax dollars spent on our country.

That and environmentally, makes sense to force production here where we do have more strict environmental standards.

You think this has any factor…….my 21 GTPE from Carvana. At this rate, I won’t be paying Ford $29k in 18 months for the car.
Eighteen months and depreciated 50%.
IMG_0777.png
The Carvana value means nothing. That is not a true measure of your depreciation.

A quick search around the internet (cars.com; carfax.com; cargurus.com) shows that 2021 GTPEs are being listed at an average of roughly $52k, with the lowest I saw being $47k.

Your vehicle couldn't possibly be worth only $33k unless you have 100k miles on it or its seen some damage.

Yes! Same here ?, in fact the nice sales lady was trying hard to sell it for a bit above MSRP. The sticker price was the old price prior to price cuts and no rebates. I told her anyone who goes to order Mach-E knows the new price, to top it if they have ever been to this forum they would know about the current rebates, why would they buy from you paying extra $6k.

Another branch of my dealership wanted Old MSRP - 2k in rebate. He gave me his sad story of they don't make any money since the dealership is selling at cost/MSRP ?

I thought the dealership gets a at least 10% per car.

Agree!

Car values are definitely all over the place.

When I looked at selling my '22 Lightning truck last month, prices were all over the place - $45K on the lowest and $66K on the highest.
  • Vroom: $45K
  • Carmax: $51K
  • Driveway: $52K
  • Autonation: $53K
  • DriveO: $65K

At the end, my Ford dealer that sold me the MME last week offered the highest amount $66K.

It is just a general observation, but I am noticing an increase of Mustang Mach E's on the road in Georgia and the surrounding Southeast, as well as in my local community here on the Ga. coast. I had the only MME (a '21) on St. Simons Island for about a year, but there are at least three more now that I see regularly on the road here. There was at least one other MME at every charging stop we made coming and going from a trip to N.C. last week. It's just a small slice of the big picture, I know, but there it is. A woefully underdeveloped charging station infrastructure notwithstanding, the MME is the best vehicle among many that I have ever owned.
