If you live in an apartment or other multiple unit dwelling that precludes the possibility of home charging.
More and more apartments are allowing for the installation of charging equipment. Ours provides a charger upon request. They do not bill for the charger, installation or electricity, but add $75/mo to the rent. This works for us because it saves us the cost of doing our own installation which we would not recoup over the four to six years that we plan on being here.

Agreed. Other apartments/condos are putting in shared charging facilities as well.

That's the model I expect many apartments to use -- just a flat monthly surcharge added to the rent. And then try to control access to keep cheaters out. Not unlike how some administer reserved parking spaces now.

Access control to chargers (without necessarily having to put expensive point-of-sale processing in) will be an important thing for apartments, condos, workplaces, etc.

There will still be issues of who gets them when. People that rely on home charging (apartments) will want a guarantee. You don't want to get home from work at 10% on Tue night only to find the chargers full. But installing 5, 10, 20 chargers can get expensive and add to the cost, so you don't necessarily always want to install one for every BEV resident. Maybe some will set it up where Joe gets it Mo/We/Fr while Mary gets it Su/Tu/Fr/Sa. Or something like that to keep costs from going higher than really needed.

It seems kinda silly now with so few BEVs around, but when we start getting up to 10%, 20%, 30% of vehicles being BEVs, and the vast majority are wanting to tie up a charger continuously from 8pm-8am, access control is gonna get interesting.

All of the parking spaces here are assigned so it is easy to control.

My great grandfather and his (later) business partner were the first European settlers in what is now Grande Prarie, Alberta. I think he made his way across Canada faster than Electrify Canada.

Electrify America is going strong putting in lots of L3 systems in the DC area. Big shopping and outlet malls near major interstates are getting multiple car installations so they serve both shoppers and provide charging with dining and shopping for road trippers. All the smaller malls and many large shopping centers away from travel corridors are getting smaller 1-2 unit L3 installations. They are following the standard pattern of providing one CHAdeMO and the rest CCS.

The destination L3s at malls is coordinated through deals with big mall real estate companies such as Westfield https://media.electrifyamerica.com/en-us/releases/125
and outlet mall companies https://media.electrifyamerica.com/en-us/releases/41

They're doing the same thing around Denver - flooding it with precious 150 kW chargers. Still wish they'd put most of their resources into chargers BETWEEN cities rather than IN cities, but unfortunately they've chosen that approach. ☹

EA is finally adding a charging station in Vermont, though it's weird that they're choosing to install it at a grocery store instead of Walmart or a shopping mall.

It's great that they're more than doubling their presence in VT (going from 0 to 1 :)), but the price tag of $0.75/kWh makes it a non-starter for all but emergencies. Considering the going rate for electricity at home is around $0.17/kWh in the area, that seems ludicrous.

The real question is how many are going in and where? Are the ones in and around Denver 1-2 unit installations with the big installations near major interstates? That's what I saw last time I checked out there.

Well it seems that EC is also on the move. :) I found out on Plugshare yesterday that the 6 stations in Quebec are listed has coming soon so they are under construction right now. Also coming out yesterday that IGA a grocery store company will install a network call RechargÉco mainly thought for people who can't necessaraly charge at home. Each station will have 2 L3 DCFC chargers and will split the 125kW power between the 2 chargers IF there is 2 EVs plugged in at the same time making it then a 62.5 kW L3 chargers. Also the grocery will supply a Chademo adater for Tesla owners. These chargers will be the Charge Point ones. I kind of like the way the cable can be moved around on that suspension.?

There's 10 locations active now, and 7 more coming. 11 are at Walmarts, a few at Targets, and the rest at various shopping centers. About half are 5+1, some 3+1, a few 2+1, and even a couple of 2+1+1 (an L2). Most are near highways running through and around the metro area, although there's only a few of those that I would say are positioned more for travelers just passing through.

IIRC, EA only had maybe 4-5 stations here at the start of the year. Looked like a pretty logical spread to cover travelers passing through from N/S/E/W edges of the metro area. That made sense. Since then they've added a dozen more stations to the map intended to flood the metro for local use. I'd much rather they'd spread those around various highways around the state and region. Like US40, US50, US285, etc to get to Durango, Steamboat Springs, Salida, Alamosa, etc.

You are still 100% ahead of West Virginia. I thought about that as I drove through there this weekend on the way back to Ohio.
