My thought is that Ford knew these needed to be replaced but they were buying time to make sure the new part would fix the problem before they rolled it out to everyone. They didn't want a second recall down the road if they moved too quickly. This is a good sign that they feel they have a handle on the problem.

I can confirm Canadian vehicles are affected as well. I just ran my '22 Ext Prem AWD and was given the recall notice.

Me too… ?

At least this is being rolled out to both countries at the same time. Just hope they can figure out parts soon and start all of that.

The battery does not need to be discharged. I seem to recall the flat rate time was reported as 4-6 hours.
They can keep my car all day if it means the work will be done correctly. My particular dealership has a pretty good service reputation but that is based on a history of working on ICEVs.

In June '23, while we were waiting for the modem to upgrade on my 21 Mach e, the Tech. at the dealer showed me shipments of HVJB updates that he had to install in all the new 2023s as they arrived. I'm not certain that it relates to this, but...

i had my 2021 premium SR RWD hvbjb replaced 2-3months ago (@34k miles). so it does happen. i did floor the car quite a few times especially early on because all that torque and whipping the rear end around on those skinny stock tires was so fun.

hopefully i got the newer, more robust part... covered under warranty. not part of the recall as far as i can tell, so will be bummed if it fails again when i'm out of warranty.

So I have a 2023 Premium SR rear drive.

I guess I'm supposedly safe from this failure ?

Ever since I joined the forum and starting reading, it is in the back of my mind.

I checked and I don't have any recalls.

I think that ship has sailed. Ford will never deliver on that promise
You can actually get the frunk button anytime, you just might have to pay the dealer to do it like I did for my First Edition. All it needs is the updated BCM and GFM modules which allows them to check the box enabling "electronic front trunk release button". I took my FE to the dealer and specifically instructed them to do this and the tech was able to do it just fine...they also have a tech hotline to corporate if they're not sure how. My dealer charged me $199 cuz it's not a mandatory update, but it was totally worth it to me cuz as soon as I got frunk functionality I got a Lightning fob and programmed it to the car so now I can open the frunk anytime from the fob which I use all the time.
