Dealership (Colorado) confirmed delivery date of 1/25. Schedule production is week of 12/13. VIN available from dealer. See details on this Mustang Mach E twitter post.

*Edit* This is information handed down to the dealership from corporate. They get a weekly email update for all their Mach E reservations.

You can't use that logic on the IRS. Well you can, but it won't work. You have to take legal delivery, not virtual delivery. Watch out for an audit!

I don't believe any info that's only source is a dealer.
Interesting that Ford doesn't have a shipping plan but yet the dealer can give an exact delivery date. I call BS!

The dealership is sent an update every week on Friday. I was looking over the employee's shoulder. No B.S. here.

This is information provided to the dealer by corporate. This is not estimates by the dealer.
Again, Ford is scrambling to put shipping plans together right now to get the 3000+ cars already sitting in mexico sent out. I would be highly skeptical of that dealer's information, regardless of where he got it. It is a reasonable guess and I hope it's true, as my car is scheduled to be built next week also.

And what if after the dealer sells you the car in December, it gets destroyed in transit in January? Not worth all the risks to try to game the system, in my opinion.

Good luck, hope it happens for you but I'd be a little wary that dates are subject to change.

Even if Ford is scrambling to get these out to customers, I would think their estimate on delivery date is the best information we have.

Why so many downers? I would think the people coordinating the production and shipping (FORD) would have the best estimated delivery date even if they are in a scramble to get these out to customers. Has Ford missed their other targets? Power, range, price... now hopefully delivery.

I think it's reasonable for a dealer (via Ford) to have an estimated delivery date like that. I have no reason to believe it's not a valid good faith estimate.

How accurate it ends up being is another matter though, as shipping arrangements are very fluid right now. Reports are that Ford is scrambling to get as much shipped as they can amidst all the COVID problems, but it's far from business-as-usual right now. (Not just for cars but for most commerce.)

I agree some of the reactions were a bit harsh.

The dates seem plausible - 6 weeks from build date to delivery - assuming Ford sorts out their delivery process

Probably not a great idea to purchase a vehicle you have not set eyes on. Also, I would check with your accountant about the tax credit if buying in 2020 and getting the car in 2021. The dealer benefits if you buy now, and they may just be blowing smoke.

I've set my eyes on the Mach E, just not mine specifically and I'm comfortable with that. Any defects up to the time of handing over the keys are covered by Ford. E.g. transit damage = simple delay in delivery.

I definitely have to look into the tax rebates for purchase versus delivery date and see what I can do.. Just wanted to let everyone know they may have the option to finalize the sale before year end.

True. But unless one is opting for remote document signing, they're seeing the car when they go in to complete the sale and drive it off the lot. It's last-minute viewing, but it is eyes on the vehicle before making the final decision. Can still pull out at the last second (although deposits are not always refundable).

I definitely plan on looking mine over for any flaws before I sign the bill of sale. Perhaps even test drive it, although I'm less concerned about that. I've already seen and sat in a MME tour car this week so I'm good with the model in general.
