There are other threads on this, Tesla will build adapters and Ford will sell them to you, next year. Rivian has stated they will give me one for free, so I will use that one for all my EVs.

Adapters can be used with any model or year EV that supports CCS, as long as you have the Tesla app.

Magic Dock uses the Tesla app. But I thought that once we get our adapter that we would use it via FordPass (not the Tesla app). At least that was my understanding of what Ford wants the experience to be.

Ford may offer Plug & Charge with Tesla, or use of Ford Pass app, but that is independent of using the Tesla app. Just like with EA, I can use P&C, or Ford Pass, or I can simply use the EA app.

In the end the adapter will be just like Magic Dock, it is generic and will work with any vehicle. Payment can be done in various ways. The CCS to Tesla adapters that Tesla supplies to its customers work on any CCS charger. But the Tesla owners pay via the CCS network apps or CC.

Ford's goal is to make the experience "all Ford". Just like today though, nothing stopping you from using the other apps.

Here is my question. Once Ford starts building in the tesla charging ports in 2025, will there be an option for us to go to a ford dealer and [pay] to swap out the ports on our cars that are built from 2020-2024? I would rather pay for that, then fiddle around with an adaptor…..

I have been thinking the same thing especially with the throttled L2 I am getting now. Hoping the design does not complete change such that it is $$$ to do it. Always the cables and connection of them that is a cluster with electronics/tech. How many different types of display, audio and smart device cable connections out there! I watched the CCS CHAdeMO fight and thought we picked right ?‍♂ Betting the adapter is cheaper.

Get on that condo board and have them put in some metered connections. Tell them it is 2023 ;)
Actually I spoke to them, they are in the process. They had an inspection done and some things need upgrading before then can install, but they are working on it. In the meantime, at the end of our gate, we have 4 new EVgo 100 kw stations that went operational 1 week before I bought my new MME. So I don’t have to go far. Still have to wait but at least it’s not far.

Between fellow member Su-mach+e and I, we counted seven (yes, 7) currently used EV charging plug versions across the world this past Spring.

No surprising. There are 4 (5 if you count the old Tesla Roadster) in just North America and Europe.
