Funny, the Mach E has been out long enough for Ford to have oodles of charging data. You'd think they would be able to use that data to massage the curve or top charging speed a bit more so it means less time at the charger.
The engineers are still working on the frunk button for Job 1s. Priorities still exist.

This is all about 'use case.' I knew the US infrastructure is not built for EVs, but I bought one anyway. Why? Because 95% of my driving is less than 20 miles per day; 4% is a 150 mile trip every other week; and I have taken ONE road trip of 2,500 miles. Stopping to charge during my road trip was a 45 minute exercise (to find a working charge station in some random neighborhood, waiting my turn, connecting and then charging). I have owned my MME GT PE for 510 days and have charged at home for 500 of those days. If I wanted to eliminate the 45 minutes on road trips, I would buy an ICE vehicle and miss out on the best car I have ever purchased- the MME GT PE. Charging speed really means nothing to me.
This summarizes my thoughts exactly.

They have oodles of data that says DC Fast Charging melts the contactors in the HVBJB. Based on a tear down I saw, the module has no active thermal management. The only way they can reduce the heat in the module is to limit the current going through it.

Yeah, no, seriously, what does efficiency have to do with it? The only metric anyne cares about is charging speed. The MME appears to come in near last, yet you try to spin it otherwise.

Make your case for you assertion.

On the list I found I didn't see my exact model listed (Premium 4X). The closest thing was the Premium AWD and the amount gained in an hour is essentially equivalent to a 100% charge on my Premium 4X.

What is a surprise about the actual results? Assuming the testing was done with some scientific reasoning anyway. The point is that when I got the Mach-E I was led to believe that it would take 35-40 mins or so to charge from 10% to 80% in a road trip situation. The extra 20 mins to get a basically 'full tank' in an hour sounds about right.

Admittedly I have only used a DCFC to see how it works and make sure my account was set up to use when needed. But when the time does come for me to sit and wait at a DCFC stop I will simply reflect on the countless hours that I have banked by 'fueling up' in my garage and smile...or I'll go grab a bite. It's not that big of a deal to me. And I get to drive the best looking car of the bunch IMO.

Would I like it to be faster? Sure. But I'd also like to be taller and better looking.

Someone asked what will you do while the car is charging, say two or three charging session before you get to that day's destination. Besides eating, restroom, shopping, most of us have internet chores and other daily routines. I like to get at least half an hour of intense exercise every day, also read a few newspapers, arrange the next day's motel accommodations. Normally I do that before I start driving, but why not schedule them while charging?

Or if you don't mind a little humor: Momma Mamma, I'm bored what can I do? Only time I ever feel that way is on a long plane flight.

I think a lot of us forget that there is a large swath of the population do not have access to home charging. OEMs would like to tap into this pool and sell them an EV. I would wager that an extra 10-15mins of charging 2-3 times a week is significant for this group.

Also to do while waiting for the car to charge: walk the dogs, water the dogs, feed the kids, let them get wiggles out at a playground if available, nap (if no kids or dogs to wake me), read random posts to these forums... Lots of options. ?

Maybe. It doesn't say that it is for the extended battery and the other entry for the Premium trim does. They list the Premium Ext Range RWD at 329 mi/hr. Regardless, it doesn't change my overall point that I would get a basically full tank in an hour. Which is what I was led to expect at the time of purchase.

That's fair. But I'd also like to point out that electricity is everywhere (almost). And if you have solar then literally EVERYWHERE under the sun. So If you don't have access to at least a 110v outlet then an EV may not be your best option. Unless you still want to drive the most fun car you will ever drive.

I'm curious what you folks do during fueling stops where this is true. See, in a gas car, I stop for about 5 minutes, during which I start the pump, use the head, grab a drink and a snack for the road, disconnect the pump, and then get on my way with a full tank.

they're going to have to work on improving this test. If you look at their data table the four trims of the mme all have the same charging values, which is just wrong. It has to be. So only one of those trims was actually tested and has accurate results.

The mme also has an unfortunate charge curve that is time based not temperature based. So the 10-80% is going to be penalized relative to a 20-80%.
