For a year I used the Ford mobile charger that came with my ‘22 MME Premium, then bought a Wallbox Pulsar Plus. Worked great for a few weeks then would cut out each time. Sent it back and am using the Ford mobile charger again. Any recs for a better L2 unit?

Retired. I'd say it was a mid life crisis, but not many people live to 140.

If you don't care about "smart" stuff in a charger, I'd second the Grizzl-E recommendation.

I got a JuiceBox, but I agree with everyone above about the Grizzl-e. The "smart" features of the JuiceBox aren't really useful for me, and the "dumb" Grizzle-e would have saved me about $250.

The "smart" charging features are controlled by the Mach-E or Ford app, so I use my JuiceBox as a "dumb" charger anyway.

The JuiceBox was a PITA to connect to WiFi.

If you find a JB for a similar price to a Grizzl-e, I would say sure, go for it, it's reliable. If I had to do it over, I'd save the $$ and go with a Grizzl-e.

Please keep in mind the “charger” is actually part of the car. The device you are buying to charge at home is essentially an extension cord with one feature that is able to limit the power based on the circuit.

Keep it simple and get the grizzl-e. It’s durable for outdoor installations and just works when you plug it in. The car can do all the smart stuff like charge times, etc.

I have two grizzl-e at home, both inside and outdoors. They work very well and have never let me down.

For what is maybe the 5th or 6th Grizzl-E recommendation - have the "dumb" version and simplicity is king here! Made in Canada and highly recommended!

The only benefit to the “smart” Juicebox is that I can see when the MME throttles back the charge from 9.6 kw to 7 or so.

Grizzl-E are well made (not Chinese), simple to configure for max charge setting (dip switches) up to 40A (10kW), once that's done it's fit and forget. Very long24ft lead.
I also suggest the Grizzl-E, not only one of the longest cords but also one of the sturdiest and stays flexible even in cold weather.

Grizzl-e Classic (refurb) with 3 year warranty is going for $280 at their site. Solid charger built for Canadian winters. My refurbed unit had a fault (would still charge - but had to be reset each time) after 2 years. They sent me a new unit within 2 days with no drama.

My grizzl e started Over temperature faulting after 9 months. One video and one day later a new one was in the mail. No drama easiest warranty claim ever.

Got my Chargepoint at Home Depot. 10% off military. Very robust - and got a full federal rebate for charger and install.

We have a ChargePoint charger at our house, which my husband said was easy to install and has worked great for the 4 months we have had it. We just installed an Emporia charger at my dad’s house and my husband said it was a huge PITA to install due to its design, but it seems to have worked well for the one weekend we have used it so far and my husband seemed to think it charged his Lightning a bit faster than the ChargePoint one does at our house (haven’t charged my MME on it yet).

I have the 50 amp grizzle e at home and ford 80 amp which came with lightning at a weekly used Lakehouse. I vote grizzle e. Installed both myself. Grizzle e has been bullet proof for 18 months. Ford was a PITA to set up and Texas heat will shut the Ford down, less than when installed with software Ford has pushed. Set the dip switches on the Grizzle e and forget it. We can park our e Fords nose to nose, one inside and the other outside to charge. No issues thus far with heat, humidity, or rain on the Grizzle E cord or handle. Cord is long, like wrestling an anaconda for small adults n kids.
