It depends when that survey was and who you surveyed. 300 people is a far cry from 50000 that bought and never went on the forum.

If your survey was from Sept 2022 or before, then I would bet that it did not reflect the cross section of all buyers. If your survey is much more recent, then yes, of course its less than MSRP because the market crashed and dealers and Ford was offering rebates.

In your previous post you state that of those surveyed 6% paid over msrp.

So, with that said my question is this, what percentage of Tesla purchasers paid over msrp for their vehicle.

As I said, it was during the peak of Mach-E dealer markup accusations. But my survey included people from FB, social media, etc. It is far more representative than the anecdotal stories posted on here.

I can tell you from personal experience that I bought my GTPE (ordered 6/21, delivered 3/22). Although there were 15 dealerships with 25 miles of me, I had to go to one 60 miles away because that's the only one that promised (although wouldn't put it in writing) to sell one at MSRP without any add-ons. And even on delivery, they tried to sell add-ons, but I declined.

What percentage of Tesla buyers walk into a Tesla store and say, "I want that car right there and I don't want to wait. I want it right now."?

Sorry if I came across as defensive as that is not my intention at all, just making conversation about the order process at Tesla.

After thinking about it some more and going back to the Tesla sight I actually found it quite easy to use and not deceptive at all. But, as they say your mileage may vary.

If I may, could I ask you, would you ever buy a Tesla?
I'd absolutely buy a Tesla if they made a vehicle I liked a lot (better than the Mach-E, for instance). But there's a number of things I don't like about the Y vs the MME. No driver screen... lack of key physical controls... no Android Auto... an uninspiring outside look (reminds me of a Prius)... Just too many things I don't care for, even though there's a lot of good things too.

And the CT, well, it's just butt ugly to me. I was disappointed they picked that bizarre design. A Tesla version of the R1T at a much better price would fly off the shelves, IMO.

I'm hoping they make a real SUV in the future. A counterpart to the EV9 or R1S. But they're so focused on low-slope aero that I doubt they will. I favor taller and boxier. Granted, the MME is not much of either, but at least the MME mitigates that some with it's roof trick in the rear.

All good valid points.

I don't really know that and I'm not sure exactly where you are going with the question, could you elaborate please?

well, here is a survey on this forum of over 350 members.

https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/poll-did-you-pay-msrp-or-less-for-your-new-mme.21290/

12.2% paid more than MSRP.
That's double your survey.

And I would assume that people on this forum is more knowledgeable and less likely to pay ADM than the general public.

As you told me earlier you are flat wasting your time, Mach-E VLOG is well connected with Ford and no way he is going to say anything negative about the Ford ordering system jeopardizing that relationship!

You can't do that with Tesla. Try going to a Tesla store with a Cybertruck on display right now and telling them you want to buy it. They will tell you to put in a pre-order and then you may get it in few years (who knows what the price will be).

When people were paying markups on the Mach-E it was their choice. Put in an order and wait about 8 months for one at MSRP or buy one right then and pay the markup.

I don't know, a lot of the people here are very enthusiastic and may have paid to "skip the line" like I said above.

This is all sorta irrelevant. Nothing changes the fact that the prices on the Tesla website are for a pre-order and they are estimated. Meanwhile, I can go to Ford's website right now and order a Lightning and even get a $7,500 Ford incentive. And I know what price I will be paying. Yes, I'll have to say no to the dealer offering PPF and nitrogen in the tires. But that's ok, No is an easy word.

No connection at all with Ford and we actually cover all EVs. In fact, our latest video was a Model Y road trip.

I am just telling you my opinion and what I have seen. I literally documented all of this because Tesla stans doubted what I paid for the two Mach-Es we bought.

Ok, I get where you are going with that but I still don't like the fact so many dealers played around with the pricing on the Mach E orders.

And, if what you say is true I had no idea that when you order a Tesla there is no price protection involved.

Only for the Cybertruck right now because it is a pre-order and not an actual order. I posted the screenshot and linked the pre-order doc.
