Initially, I was only charging to 80% as many people have recommended, which gave us right at 190~200 mile range..
We bought an Autel level 2 charger, and the first night on the charger it charged to 100% and there seems to be no way to change that. That’s not the issue though….
The first time we charged to 100% I noticed that our mileage heading increased to a rather poultry, 225 miles.
The next night after driving 35 to 50 miles I plugged in and it was at 100% the next day with 240 miles estimated range.
Unplugged and drove another day @ 25 to 30 miles maybe plugged in and overnight charged to 100% with 260 miles range…
today, after only driving another 25 to 30 miles we plugged in overnight and charged to 100% with a 280 mile range (which is actually what I had expected when we purchased the pony).

Is it normal to see fluctuation in your estimated mileage range?
(I do understand that mileage is conditional upon driving and road conditions)

TIA folks!

Your range isn't changing, the Guess-o-Meter is learning your habits and changing the estimated range. To understand what the GOM really says, read this:
https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...ulate-how-far-your-mach-e-can-really-go.6104/

Also, you set the car to charge to 80% in the Sync4A screen as part of the charging app. The car will control the amount you charge independent of the charger. You'll need to save your home charging location then set up your preferred charging and departure.

Thanks! I was reading abuot the GOM and how it recalc's. Sound like FMC is trying to implement some sort of AI algorithm for mileage guesstimate :)

Thanks for the link for a newbie!!

Also, you have a 2023, not a 2024.

There is a setting in the menu of the car that will control how much (80%) you want the battery to charge to.

BTW, to set a limit on charging percentage, you can use FordPass.

The limit is specific to each charging location at the default is 100%. But suppose you charge at home and also at work ... you could set a different percentage for each site.

Open FordPass.
Tap the "vehicle" icon at the bottom of the screen.
In the "Charging" section (tap that to open the submenu of choices)...
Tap the "Preferred times" tile.

Here's where it gets tricky... along the top there are two categories. One labeled "Saved Locations" and the other is "Previous Locations".

IF your home is not already a "Saved Location" then go into "Previous Locations" and find it. The addresses are based on GPS location -- so it might show the address of your neighbors house and that's ok (The car merely needs to be within about 100 meters of the saved location to use that charging limit/schedule.)

Make sure you give the location a name (it wont let you "save" a location without naming it)
Set the "Max Charge Level" slider.

You can ALSO set the charging times (e.g. if you have a time-of-use rate on your electric plan and wont to charge during off-peak).

Tap "save".

It will push that to the car ... which will then limit charging times and amounts based on your choices.

Ford recommends limiting charging to no more than 90% of regular use UNLESS you have one of the new Standard Range cars that come with the LFP battery. Those cars can (and should) be charged to 100% at least once per month. Others should only be charged to 100% when you need the range (it is better for long-term battery health to avoid charging to 100% for those cars).

Also... if you DO charge to 100% ... it is not good for battery health to let the car sit for days without using it. When charging to 100% ... plan to use it shortly after it finishes charging.
