Installed a Fitcamx dash cam in our 2023 Premium

installed mine today and was luckily to do it without issue or breaking/losing clips.

my question for everyone is the buttons on the camera. The instructions state one is power and one is a camera button? Does anyone know the function of the camera button? If I pressed it will it automatically lock a clip or is it just for resetting the camera settings as stated in the manual?

The camera button takes a still picture.

You can add it after the fact if you bought the kit that comes with it. If you only bought the front camera, you can’t add the rear.

I installed the optional glare filter in a competing product - the Thinkware F70. Works well, it's worth it IMHO.

I’ve been debating this. My install is pretty clean already, I tapped into the same wires this uses for power. But I like the integrated look of this.

I thought about it when I installed my Thinkware dash cam.

My thoughts in the end:

1. Normally, any rear-ended accident is presumed to be the following car's fault, so the presumed culpability is there, rear dash cam or no rear dash cam.

2. At night, all or nearly all a rear dash cam will capture under usual driving conditions is headlight glare and blackness.

3. "...difficulty of the install".

Based on 1 thru 3, I stopped at the front dash cam.

I got the rear camera for it because my girlfriend was rear ended and they were trying to blame her. The car in front of her had stopped abruptly and she ran into it - but it was because the car behind her pushed her into it. Pushing a wire under the headliner is easy enough. I'm curious about switching the rain sensor power supply to always on in order to have the camera record if it detects a shock while parked (People seem to love to open their car doors into mine). My truck's dashcam is always powered and I haven't had any issues with it - but it is only the dashcam...

Are the date and time stamps never correct after a day for anyone else?
From reading their site, it seems to be because it has no power when the car is turned off. I would have thought there'd be a small coin battery to at least keep the clock running.

I guess I'll just turn the time stamps off.

I bought the fuse box harness and wired into my fuse box. It contains both necessary leads (switched and always-on), but I had to replace one of them with a micro-3 fuse tap. So no problem with time stamps on mine. ??

Got the FitcamX installed with the fuse box kit in my 2024. I like the old rear camera better that was in my 2021’s FitcamX kit. Gonna have to mess with the mounting system to get the rear picture that I want. Right now it’s getting too much of the sun shade’s underside and the liftgate’s bottom part. The arc of the wiper blade also isn’t clearing above the center of the vertical field of view, so I need to make a bracket that lowers the camera and moves it farther to the back of the car. ?‍?

I recently removed ours. Our BlueCruise was faulting whenever we hit a bump. Removing the fitcamx and relaxing some of the strain on the oem camera cable fixed it. I'm not certain the fitcamx was part of the problem, but we rarely used it anyway.
