We had a small amount of snow this evening. I had to go out while it was still snowing, about an inch had fallen. Seemed like my car (4X) was a bit skittish. I always drive in 1-pedal and unbridled mode. The car unexpectedly lost traction a few times and began sliding a bit, even though I was doing less than 40 MPH and not braking. Perhaps just letting up slightly on the accelerator (but not coming off it fully). In a way, it reminded me a bit of driving my old Miata in the snow!

Been driving around on ice for three days in Portland. Whisper, 1PD, Michelin ICE X tires. Zero issues up or down steep hills. It runs like a dream.
Sorry but I just have to laugh. I was stuck in Portland this weekend for the big winter storm. All there was maybe an inch or two of snow and the whole city shut down! Back home now and we got 2 inches last night and 3 - 6 tonight and business as usual! I do recognize Portland does not see weather like that but restaurants and stores were shut down like it was the end of the world. Glad to know you could get around good in your Mach.

The vehicle should use weather data and intelligently / encourage it to be turned off. 1pd is dangerous in slick conditions.

I don't think that's true. The traction control is pretty rough at managing regen on ice and makes it feel like you're sliding because it suddenly stops decelerating, for sure.

I'm not saying 1PD is better, or totally safe, or anything. YMMV. Calling it "dangerous" is wrong, though. I'm in 1PD Unbridled at all times, and have never had a moment where I thought there was any "danger" from 1PD.

Do you have dedicated winter tires on your vehicle? Allot of folks place allot of emphasis on 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive, thinking it's a replacement for dedicated winter tires, but unfortunately that's not the case, particularly when coming to a stop. Don't forget the MME is a heavy girl, with a curb weight that is essentially the same as a gas F-150 truck. That's allot of momentum riding on only 225mm of rubber. If your riding the original all seasons, she doesn't stand much of a chance.

That said, I am riding on a set of 4 235/55/19 Michelin X-Ice SNOW SUV Winter Tires, and my Mach-e feels very confident and stable in the snow and ice, as long as you are driving according to conditions.

That's simply incorrect.

There is no dangerous drive mode, only dangerous drivers. People need to use the drive mode that gives them the most control.

Nope. I’ve always thought about getting a set but, with over 750 days without snow (until now), it seemed pointless. Besides, I don’t have a place to store a second set of tires.

That explains it, and makes sense. I think allot of folks are in a similar situation where the cost of new tires for a month or less of actual snow conditions doesn't justify the added cost. Just take it slow, and brake early keeping in mind the weight of the vehicle.

I agree on all points. That has been my experience in our winter wonderland in Wisconsin.

My car seems to be really good in the ice and snow here. I do turn it down to whisper mode but I've left one pedal on for now. Keep in mind that if you feel the rear slipping that that is by design. Ford wants it to feel like a mustang so the traction control will let the rear end slide about 20 degrees before stopping it. I hammered mine in the snow and it does turn to about 20 degrees and just stays there. I can't get it to slip more without being on really slick ice or turning off the traction control.
