40 years of dealing with Ford. That's where.
Okay, but that's not what you said... you referenced specifically that he backed away lol. Not just a "let's see what really happens when it is time to reserve our adapters."

His second tweet and post backed away from that.

It's scary when a CEO puts out clear statements, and 50% of this forum can't understand them. George was right.

On the Tesla Subreddit, some are already pissed about the parking situation… should be fun.

In his first tweet, he said complimentary. The second tweet went out 4 hours later and said "We'll cover cost of shipping". Queue the lawyers when they charge for the device. This is so like Ford. Marketing says one thing, accountants veto it and we all end up wondering what the hell?
I have to ask - are you simply having fun? Or can you really not understand what he said?

He said "complimentary adapter".
He then said "reservation process will be validated by VIN".
Then he said "we'll cover the cost of shipping".

It's very clear, at least to most people.

You RESERVE one for each car/truck you own.
When they are available, Ford ships it to you, no cost.

If that's not clear to you, that's pretty scary.

Agreed.

However it's also scary that you and others are still arguing that it wasn't implied that it would be free in the first place. The original tweet said they would ship them to EVERYONE who bought a Ford EV. How would EVERYONE receive an adapter if they charged for them? There's zero chance that EVERYONE would have bought one if they had cost money. So if he knew they were going to charge for them he never would have said EVERYONE. He would have instead said something like "We are going to make adapters available to current Ford EV owners next Spring."

Thus it was strongly implied that they were free.

Will they make charging as easy as filling up at a gas station?

Scan credit card, plug in.

If not, not interested. I don’t want another stupid app that doesn’t work.

My guess is plug and charge via FordPass.

Or we just sign up for a Tesla account and use the Tesla app like is needed to use a Magic Dock SC.

Yuck to both.

People don’t want to learn new things.

Swipe or scan credit card. Charge.

What’s wrong with that?

I’m pretty tech savvy. Read the forums daily for over two years. But I’ve never DC charged and only did lvl 2 a few times away from home and half the time couldn’t get those to work. And I’m still intimidated at trying to figure out a DC charge.

Zero desire to figure out a new app for some super rare chance I’ll ever DC charge on a Tesla charger. Don’t want to have to add credit card info and crap into it either.

I’ve never even used my “free” charging because it’s not even clear how to do that.

Swipe credit card, charge. Thats what I want.

Apps and accounts are convenient if you do something all the time. Unnecessary and annoying if you don’t.

Glad I don't have to rely on DCFC for daily recharging. It's going to be a mess in urban areas.

The V4 Superchargers have a credit card reader, so once those roll out in the US it will be as easy as swipe and charge.

And with Plug & Charge (if that’s what we get with the Supercharger network) it’s still as easy as swipe and charge, you just only have to swipe once, ever, in the app (i.e. add your CC to your Ford account). Then literally you just plug in and that’s it. Ford’s P&C is fantastic, if a touch slow to authenticate, and I’d love to see it on many more networks.

Probably best to stick to EA then. They have credit card readers (when they work). Telsa designed their chargers to only work with their own vehicles which all have an account for automatic plug&charge. Which usually works flawlessly with Teslas.

It *should* work the same way via Ford Pass for us. But yes, gotta set up the FP profile, with Wallet in Connected Services (registering a credit card). And FP isn't as flawless as Tesla is. That's just where we're at still. Ford isn't as good at that stuff yet.

The new V4s do reportedly have credit card (tap) readers. But not the 15,000 V3s. Likely take years before they all get upgraded.

Took decades to get gas stations there too. I remember having to go inside to pay back in the 70's.
