I care more about the range and efficiency than the charge speed. The current Taycan range of 200 miles is not that good. I think 280-300 real world range is a good sweet spot.

So, I just glanced at the video and it turns out that it was THAT long-winded blowhard who was blocking the charger. I strongly recommend that everyone go through and thumbs-down and unsubscribe from this cretin ??
Actually, it was Porche marketing team that was doing it. It was mentioned a few times in two different videos.

I read the article and caught this:

"other Porsches blocked stalls at the EA station so the entire electricity load could go to one car at a time. (This did not make us popular with the other EV drivers there, but c’est la cars, I guess.)"

What? Seriously? These a-holes occupied an entire station so they could do a charging test? Wow. This disgusts me so much I can't think of anything nice to say. So I won't say anything about how inconsiderate and selfish they are. I will just think it to myself.

Maybe I will just ban their site from future visits. They don't deserve revenue from my eyeballs.
Seriously. InsideEVs are ICEholes now?!

If I was rating ugliness where 1 is a Yugo and 10 is a Tesla Model 3, this is definitely an 8 or 9. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen more attractive dog droppings.
Well this is just confusing with those examples creating the scale. Is 1 the ugliest or 10??

Well if I were the one doing the test for my article, I would have told them to stop blocking the other chargers or I would not write the article or do the test. Someone was in charge, and I blame the one who reported it and then basically said "oh, well, no big deal". A-hole.

In all fairness, they mention that EA reps were on site as well and most likely okayed the whole thing. Still a dick move.

Heat it up, charge it fast, and cool it back down is the secret to really fast charging.
Or maybe just use a percentage of the power delivered to keep it within acceptable temperature with a heat pump you can both heat/cool to regulate the temps.

This helps answer the general question: what improvements in EV technology we need to get practical charge speeds for road trips?

12 minutes a stop is, to me, perfectly fine, and Porsche shows it can be done with current technology. While I'm still hoping for better/faster batteries in the future, these test results should be seen as good news.

Robust battery temperature management and 800V architecture are the responsibility of the vehicle manufacturer, and shouldn't be a major barrier, given the successes so far. The last piece of the puzzle, robust infrastructure, is still an issue, though the federal program subsidizing DC chargers is attempting to help with that.

Well you're old and stuck in fairbanks, the MME can't reach anywhere you'd go as there's no chargers along the way. Besides the F150 makes a far better road tripper.
Agreed - that is why I said I was out of the norm (I imagine there are also other reasons.)

ohhhhh!!!! Well gee. That TOTALLY excuses it. A Porche Marketing Team? Forgive me for daring to even exist on the same planet as them ?

OMG, the prototype 2025 Porsche Taycan is looking like a BEAST!!! 365 miles/charge and 8%-80% charge in 16 minutes!!! Is that even possible? I may not have even made it to the restroom at Walmart by the time the car would be charged and ready to roll............see article below.
