What does one have to do with the other?

I have my own adapter
I'm curious will the aftermarket lectron adapter I've be seeing people buy work with ford plug and charge or does it have to be the ford supplied adapter.

Not if you do not have it, like many of us. I got the OTA in the car, still do not show Tesla in the app for P&C, and still do not have charge assist.

Supposed to get my adapter in April, wonder if Ford will have my software all working by then. Guess I will just use the Tesla app to charge, much more reliable.
I'm curious about this. So I have fordpass 4.33, I got the CHG power up for tesla chargers today. I also created blue oval network account. BUT the only thing showing up right now is the EA in the blue oval network plug and charge. I was told by someone else that it takes a few days for it to show up in fordpass.

The certificate handshake comes from the vehicle, not the adapter. Any brand adapter should work and should not affect P&C, even if not blessed by Ford.

Today we received the update shown on Sync screen as "Plug & Charge at Tesla Superchargers". It doesn't show on Fordpass app yet. The car is 5 weeks old (to us, built Sept 2023) and this is the forth update in those 5 weeks. 12 volt battery has been between 85-100% charge during this period.

My adapter is due in May, but I assume that if I go to the single nearby Magic Dock SC station that I can 'Plug & Charge' there.

Strangely, we still do not have the icon for 'Charge Assist' on our Sync screen.

I just wish that Ford with give more details on what the update actually does. Last week I got an update with the usual message that this update will improve the installation of updates. On Tuesday morning I got another update 24-PU0102-CHG-SUFX. This update appears to be part 1 of 3. I was charging overnight and charging apparently stopped after this update applied so I only got charged to 75%. Charging worked OK the following night. The update is supposed to improve charging but I have no idea how or what else will change.
My car did the exact same thing when installing 24-PU0102-CHG-SUFX. But when installing 24-PU0119-DC-CHG4 (plug and charge for Tesla superchargers), it restarted charging after the update and was fully charged by morning.

Way to go Ford, I wanted to be able to complain about this, but then you just had to go and send me the update only a couple days after the announcement... smh... typical... what were you thinking!

Ford says the vast majority of owners can expect the Supercharger OTA before you receive your adapter. So… between now and sometime this summer maybe.

I love my MachE, but Ford’s OTA process is painful. And not just for this update, but 6.x, the priority updates, blue cruise, etc… If an update has been approved and beta tested, it should be available for install at the owner’s discretion. I certainly hope the next gen vehicles have a different OTA experience.
What I just listened to at 3:30 in the video is that PowerUp OTA update is not REQUIRED to use the adaptor, it just makes the Plug&Charge work smoother.

Part of the reason I am asking is I stopped auto-updates a long time ago because of all the surprises that seem to come with OTAs, and I don't care about bluecruise. What I don't want is to have to turn auto-updates on and wait thru all the intermediate builds to catch up.

I would rather not get any update, and start/end charges manually.

IF a specific module needs to be updated to use the adaptor, is it possible to get just certain modules updated at the dealership ?

OR, is it possible to get a massive 'service-pack' update to jump up to current Powerup all at once?

Here's FordPass 4.33.0 which does have Tesla V3 chargers in the Denver area. We don't have V3 chargers up north yet, but will in a couple of weeks when Buc-ee's opens :)

I don't have the Charge-assist either but I do recall Ford saying they were updating

it for the Tesla supercharge network so maybe they stopped the rollout for now.

You’re missing the point. I’m not worried about the Tesla OTA. I can charge without it. Ford’s OTA process is slow, cumbersome, and frustrating.
I have the Mach E and Model Y.

Ford has certainly improved the OTA, they install faster. The frequency at which the updates come have also increased.

Tesla OTA frequency seems to be the same, except they suggest a 20-25min downtime.

Thanks. I was curious how it compares to Tesla.

This update seems to be the fastest one out yet. I'm generally 1-2 months behind when I see an update pop-up on the Forum. This one came within days of the 1st mention on the forum.

My adapter is due in April

Is there an obvious way to know if my mach E has the plug and play update?
If you go into the Charge Assist app in the car and look at the Filter options, you will have a filter option to hide locations that require an adapter. I wish I had a photo to post here...maybe I will take one later and update this message.

Received my Tesla P&C update today. My adapter is supposed to come in July, I think. I could not get into the My Ford website to order the adapter. I used FordPass to order it without any problem. Received the confirming e-mail with the link to see when it would arrive. After repeated tries at logging in to My Ford, I gave up trying.
Has anyone successfully signed in to My Ford recently?
I also had trouble signing in to My Ford. They increased the security requirements for allowable passwords and my old (and pretty secure) password wasn't good enough. Instead of allowing me to sign in and forcing a change, my password just kept getting denied. I had to reset my password.

We'll see - I have ordered both the Lectron and A2Z adapters as I just received the Tesla OTA update yesterday.

I wanted a backup adapter in case it gets stolen while charging unattended.

I will keep the one that comes in first ( it's now a race between Lectron & A2Z) in addition to the complimentary Ford adapter.
