I've cracked the code o_O

what you have to do to get BC1.4 (and Tesla dongles) is to have a Youtube channel! Once you have a Youtube channel you are all set. You will have gotten BC1.4 in December and the dongle in February. It's magic!o_O

No youtube channel - no BC1.4
We have BlueCruise 1.0 and a YouTube channel.

We are borrowing an adapter from Ford and we had to order one just like everyone else. Yes, we get to borrow the adapter because we have a YouTube channel. It is so we can make videos about it and because Ford expects us to give feedback (which we have done).

hmm it must not be exactly the right kind of youtube channel... it only partially worked. ?

kidding aside, I like the content you and Liv produce. Please keep it up.?

The point I am poking at is that with flurry of updates at the end of the year and a few people hand held into 1.3 (Mark) I am surprised that it isn't in OTA by now. It looks like most of a day with FDRS and I can get the core functionality working but I really don't want to do that again. It's been 8 months since this thread was stared... my car will be 3 years old shortly... Whatever momentum there was around 1.3 at the end of the year, it has dissipated.

there are only a couple of ways today to get BC 1.4: work for ford as the CEO, buy a new car with it already installed, or install it via FDRS. no youtubers have it just by virtue of being a youtuber.

i don't begrudge the few youtubers or ford "ambassadors" getting early access - i surely am not willing to put in the time and work necessary to get on that inside track. will happily watch them though.

I honestly think bc1.4 will be the last OTA we will get with this generation of MMEs.

Ford might still push one-off OTAs, but only to fix small issues. I bet the team is traumatized trying to swim against the current with 100s of suppliers. My opinion is not based on actual knowledge, just a gut feel based on what’s going on.

At this point I think I'd encourage everyone to take a look at Comma, and the community surrounding it. My experience with the current software on highways is on par or better than BlueCruise, and I think the community is probably going to push it further than Ford will officially.

I cannot imagine using a third party device to control the steering of my car.

LOL, maybe we should stop reviewing other cars like the Bolt and GV70 Electrified!

Yeah, I was really just meaning we have a YouTube channel and we are frustrated by the delays as well. Because of YouTube, we got to try 1.2 out for a week in a loaner vehicle, but that just made me realize what we are missing. And with 1.3, I only got a short drive but I could tell it didn't cancel in situations where 1.0 would cancel. I'm really ready to get the upgrade!

This definitely feels like the case. I'm sure that late last year everyone was shifted to the NACS software updates, but it really does feel like I am going to be a year into my paid bluecruise subscription before I get 1.3/1.4.

I don't think so. In fact, I highly doubt that. Demonstrating an abandonment of major support with both legacy and current vehicles would be a tremendous PR disaster, especially with companies like Tesla still pushing major updates to cars that are older than 10 years. Ford is already largely perceived as being behind the curve compared to them.

I do think however that Ford will be much more cautious about letting major update cats out of their bags long before they're ready for release.

Logical. Flawlessly logical.

I have a YouTube channel and received neither the adapter nor the update. Although the channel has nothing to do with cars,I am nearly at 3 subscribers..... So where is my update@!!!

You’re thinking about it like it’s an IT project. There is no such thing as ongoing support for cars. You just drive them and buy the next model year when they age. Ford is simply incapable of providing ongoing support. They proved that already. This forum is filled with stories about Ford’s software failures. That is the PR disaster that you’re referencing. It already happened.

Again, this is speculation on my part, guided only by 24 years of being in and around the auto industry.
