Thanks MIke, I just stumbled into this discussion this morning. Have no idea how to know if any of those are critical. Some sound important. Is there another discussion that will help me understand if waiting for the OTA updates is ok or I need/should go in for service to have the updates made and what that might entail.

Hi, Im going to try again with the right VIN this time
Thanks
It's apparently down for maintenance right now. It will likely come back up in an hour or so, or even sooner. This always happens on Sundays.

A couple of things that might bear on this....

Ford doesn't own dealerships or employ the techs that do the updates. So they have to get paid under a warranty claim to do an update that results from either a 'customer concern' (from you complaining about something not working) or a recall, or customer satisfaction program (CSP), or an error that's noticed and a message you got in the car that causes them to figure out what caused it and update a module with software to fix it. And that costs money. The tech has to get paid by somebody.

But on the other hand, the software engineers don't just put out updates because "it's time for a new update". They would only change the software for a component if it wasn't performing it's function properly, or performance could be improved, or the component was causing issues with some other component.

Sometimes they do updates and we out here in owner-land have no idea what they were trying to fix. ...and we find out a couple of weeks after the software comes out when @Mach-Lee posts a TSB that talks about doing an update that fixes a certain problem...and then the lightbulb goes on and we make the connection.

On the whole if you aren't experiencing issues then you should just ignore that list and feel confident that your car is just fine the way it is, ...unless you want to spend some money to do something about it.

Thanks for trying. I know I messed up the first time. I anticipate a lot of updates. My 21 Select FE had many and I had to bring it back where they kept it for a week with no loaner. I’d like to avoid that this time

This is pretty standard for a 23.5 model at the minute. I've seen this same list for a lot of '23s. They just aren't sending out OTAs for these updates currently.

Thanks Mike, should I still expect to get the updates OTA in the coming days, weeks, months?

Whenever they get around to putting the packages together to send out. I think the focus right now is getting BC 1.4 put together and certified in order to send that out. Cause nothing else except the Tesla Supercharger update is getting much OTA play.

And that's probably one of the oldest software revisions for the APIM (Sync) that I've seen in a while (MU5T-14G682-TL). I think I'd ask the service desk to diagnose why your Sync is so old. Something's not right with that. And/or open a case with the BEV team (866-631-3788).

Thank you so much. Are any of these important enough for me to insist they update?

Are you having a problem with the car? Without a related concern on your part they aren't going to do these for free.
