Adaptor (CCS to Tesla) should come with wire extender

Hi all. Am I the only one scratching my head about why the CCS to Tesla Adaptors, whether provided by Ford or through purchase, don't seem to have an option of have a wire extension built in. It seems that the Tesla chargers are quite short. Having an adaptor with a wire extender built in would be helpful. Just my two cents.

DCFC cables are liquid cooled to manage heat, you can't just add that to an adapter.

Yeah I think most everyone agrees an extension would be preferable. As mentioned there have been many discussions on this and Tesla has an extension in development that has also been posted on here.

The reasons they didn't have it already are many:
1. The adapter is being used for all manufacturers coming over to SuperChargers, it's, so far, the same adapter offered for Ford and Rivian and likely others. The Rivian charge port is more forward and it isn't as urgent to have an extender. Having multiple adapters would have increased cost since economies of scale would have been cut significantly.
2. The cost for an extender would be significant compared to the adapter itself. While it's true what a poster said above about liquid cooled cables, that isn't a requirement of the extender. But the extender would need to have thicker cabling to handle the current without high heat and that is costly. If built into the adapter it would have tripled the cost, easily, in addition to the costs from point 1.
3. The extender just isn't ready yet, so it would have pushed out the time for any of us to get it if they had to proof out the adapter and then long term testing on the cable to ensure it doesn't crack/overheat over long periods of time, which is less of a concern with a single piece hard plastic adapter.
4. These aren't meant to be long term issues overall, so overengineering a single solution also isn't ideal. Ford vehicles and others seem like they will be moving to NACS natively, and V4 SuperChargers have longer cables. While neither will be here tomorrow, they are coming closer every day. With some V4 cabinets already in the ground with longer cables, even if not yet using V4 back end power equipment just yet.

There are likely other reasons, but I suspect the main ones were cost, availability, and safety. If you want the extension, sounds like Tesla will allow you to buy it from them at some point in the, hopefully, near future.

Hey, it's a "lifestyle vehicle" not a serious off-roader, give it a break! It's pushing tech boundaries!

Besides, sometimes only a piece of the trim falls off and not the wheel, so, you look kind of ridiculous right now.

And since you don't have a Cybertruck, you can hop over the curb without the wheels falling off...

Mine has a 2" lift all around so it's easier to go over curbs without scraping the front lower valence....

The average price of regular (87 octane) gas here is $5.36 per US gallon. I'll deal with the occasional adapter issues in the almost non-existent chance Tesla puts a Supercharger station or 6 here.

so now all the good feelings about getting the adapters free from ford will morph into complaints that they don't have extension cords, but still at least it won't be another thread about how little my mach e is worth now, or is this range ok?
