As you can tell, this is a hot button for me. I see this behavior regularly and it really pisses me off.
One of like 56 hot buttons... ?

Stay in your car while DCFC. 7 pages of angry comments on both side and various complicated, unnecessary decision trees. Stay in your fucking car and none of this would happen.

I think a person most likely to unplug somebody elses' charger is the person most likely to go ballistic when it happens to them.
Not really, because I wouldn’t leave my car unattended at a closer dealership on Easter Sunday when everything else is closed.

I have left my car before and went inside to use the restroom, or even to check out the new EV they have.. I do leave a note saying I’m inside in case the dealership needs to use it.

3) nothing is around the dealership that was open, or even walkable .

4) WI is a very friendly state, unlike IL. We can’t stand the FIBS

5) waited 30 mins and they were already close to 100% when I disconnect them.

6) I only took enough time get to my destinatikn

7) if this really pissed you, then you have issues .. why u mad bro? ???

I understand the situation you were in and my observation wasn't directed at you specifically given the circumstances of Easter Sunday. I'm sorry if it gave that impression.

Having said that, you brought all criticism on yourself by posting about it.

And 30 threads on road trips about how you’re supposed to eat, shop and go to the bathroom while you DC charge.

Can’t have it both ways. ?‍♂

Thanks for breaking it down so we could understand exactly where you went wrong. It’s #5.

Are we talking about free DCFC or pay DCFC?

Both. Is there some new rule where you have to stay and defend your car if it’s free? L3 free is pretty rare, but L2 is common and can take many hours to charge. This seems like it was a slower L3 either way.

Only unwritten rule for the free L3 seems to be to move along when you’re fully charged.

I view a gift (which is what I consider a free charger to be) differently than a charger I'm paying for, but YMMV.

There are no rules. People want to create arbitrary rules and apply them to themselves and others. Then get mad if someone violates a rule that they didn’t even know existed. Even if there were rules, they get automatically suspended as soon as you cross into the great state of Wisconsin.

If you are a cautious, risk averse person (like me), stay in your car while charging. It’s the only way to avoid issues like this.

After reading this thread, I was kind of on the fence about this whole topic and I was somewhat sympathetic to your situation.

After reading your responses, I am no longer on the fence.
