Dateland along I-8 has 40 NACS compatible chargers and Tacna has 8.
That beats the 4 CCS chargers at the Dateland EA!

The Tesla website is great for figuring out how the newly opened Tesla Superchargers will affect road trips. It will help for my trips up into NH on I-93 and into Maine on I-95. The gap between Bangor and Houlton is still there due to V2 chargers. Most of the Superchargers in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia are V2. One thing that surprised me is the lack of any Superchargers in Newfoundland. There are only a couple of destination chargers.

Just watch out for them moose on Newfoundland roads!

The last time I drove (well, "rode" my bike) there, the moose / humans ratio was reportedly 10 to 1.

I did a trip up to Quebec from Boston for the eclipse last Sunday. The chokepoint was the Electrify America chargers in West Lebanon, NH, where there seemed to be a continuous queue of a few cars. I had to wait about an hour to charge. I noticed there was a nearly empty Tesla Supercharger site nearby, but they are version V2. It would be great if Tesla upgrades it to V3 or V4. So I am disappointed that the adapter will not help for future trips to Montreal.

What I discovered today is that even if Tesla upgrades a site to V3, that doesn't guarantee the NACS adapter will be accepted. Or at least not immediately.
I went to the Lexington, MA service center on I-95 (aka 128), and it appears to have V3 hardware. The Tesla app does not show it as available to adapters, and similarly when I tested it, the charger would not send power to my car.
I don't know the exact history of this SC site, but based on plugshare photos, it looks like it used to have V2 stalls, but don't know how long ago that was.

I am leaning more on ABRP with live data for my route planning and navigation. Now that I got my NACS adapter, I wondered if I would be stuck using Ford Navigation. It turns out ABRP will show and use NACS if you select it in the Settings under Chargers & Networks | Type of chargers. I do know that I lose preconditioning.

ABRP will show NACS capable superchargers as both Supercharger and NACS. The magic dock superchargers are shown in ABRP as both Supercharger and CCS. ABRP will show CCS as black dots/icons and NACS as green dots/icons.

I heard comments that mixed V2/V3 sites are not included, so indicating Tesla can just upgrade the dispensers without upgrading the station networking infrastructure. Other comments I saw indicate V2 sites use a Canbus based protocol and V3 sites use CCS protocol. The CCS protocol also allows other vehicles to use the station with an adapter or magic dock.

I noticed the Superchargers in the Newton Lower Falls rest area on I-95 south are NACS compatible according to the Tesla website.

I imagine someone asked this already, so I'm sorry but couldn't find the answer. I'm assuming the adapter is tesla provided and that its not "hardcoded" to Ford - meaning when I turn in my car at the end of ford options, I should be able to use this with my new non-Ford EV (in case it has CCS)? If anyone knows/tried this, please let me know. Thanks!

the adapter is passive and can't be "hardcoded" to anything.

tesla is currently limiting the use of their superchargers to "authorized" manufacturers - currently only ford and rivian but will expand over time.

who knows what will be the state of play when your ford options contract is up.

You will if that EV has been accepted into Tesla's SC network. Currently only Ford and Rivian are in but BMW is in line for 2025 and others too but not sure when.

there is more involved in the v2 vs v3 mixed sites than just the "networking infrastructure".

v2 sites ONLY speak the tesla SW-CAN (single wire CANBUS) protocol. v3 sites (in the US/NA at least) speak both SW-CAN and ISO 15118 (commonly referred to as CCS).

there are still a lot of teslas that can only speak SW-CAN so it will be awhile before it is eliminated, if ever.

Agreed. I've found it quite surprising how few NACS-compatible Superchargers there are in Arkansas! We're about to go through there.

right thanks for clarifying. Assuming the car is open to the the supercharger I can utilize the adapter with any car. Thanks!

Can you explain what a V3 mixed site is then? I don't get it...

There seems to be
* The dispenser, which seems straightforward to tell v3 from other versions.
AND
* The big cabinets located behind / off-to-the-side. I don't know what these do, but presumably they take AC from the grid and convert to 480V DC for the dispenser.
