I really thought that the reason of that thread was to denounce those who were trying to add adm.

As for the 2500$ im very surprised that theyd ask for more. You already gave a deposit, ask them what happens if you refuse.
It was to point to dealers that have said they would not do a markup. As broad interpretation dealers are like any retailer. They buy their merchandise from the wholesaler and the wholesaler has suggested retail price for their product but the retailer has right (depending on agreements and laws) to sell it for as much as they wish. Now I don't know what agreements dealers have with ford about the mach e but it is clear they are allow to sell the mach e at a certain markup if they wish.

I'm waiting for them to call me back as they are looking into it (had to go to manager...).

To me, It seems like dealer games (let me speak with the manager and get back to you...) I was trying to avoid these types of games. Not fond of these sale tactics and kind of wish it was all online as per Tesla model (not wishing for SC service though). I initially went to this dealer as it had great reviews with a guy that was part of a mustang club but he since left which is maybe also why they are changing terms.

I'll be sure to update this thread with whatever happens but I won't call out the dealer just yet... see what they come up with first.

To bad I can't just go to Mr Raider's dealer (too far).. If anyone has a recommendation in the Toronto area and/or experience in flipping dealers (for maintaining queue position if it matters?) for Canada reach out.

Thanks!
Hope you resolve it. 500$ is OK for a reservation sight unseen. I have until spring delivery to mull it over. 3000$ is a Tesla ore order fee. I would just say bye and look elsewhere.

This is not the case for this car. Normally you would be right, but this car is a different case. This has been discussed plenty of times in the past. This is why in the states the car was allowed to be ordered online. There is not supposed to be any markup from the dealer.
I think it would be against the law to sale anything over the advertise price and that is also true for cars. The way dealers normally go around this is that they buy cars to put on their lots but they add many options on it so they never have in stock the car at the advertise MSRP lowest price on the internet manufacturer's site. But if you want one of course they will make an order for you and you have to wait for it. But of course if you are buying a car that is highly desirable with all the additionnal options they most probably sale it for more then the MSRP with options and people then don't care. Personnaly I've always both my cars at the end of the year when they have there end of year sales and they want to get rid of their stock of the previous MY inventory so I had better price that way. In the case of the MME it's the first time I ear a dealer asking for more then the MSRP + transport and prep charge + options.

I just ordered from a Montreal area dealer in December. He asked for 500$. Fully refundable up until.the day of delivery.

I'm guessing they are confident that if I back out they will find another buyer.
i ordered in mtl in june and to be honest so far so good, no complaints. I call, the salesman answers, gives me an honest answer and the right price. Im just waiting/hoping for some financing/leasing changes.

So I'm in Canada and initially put in $500 to reserve back in February for the regular Mach-e. Now the dealer is asking for $2000 more to put in the order (I guess this is with ford to give me build date etc) and to make it none refundable. This was never mentioned to me in the past, has anyone got something like this from their dealers?
Sounds like the dealer is looking for more of a "hook" to prevent you from changing your mind down the road. I would walk and find another dealer.

SO not true... The car has an MSRP - that stands for Manufactures SUGGESTED retail price. The dealer can charge whatever he thinks he can get.
Yes but the $500 deposit is all that Ford Required and they set the reservation and order deposit. Tell your dealer they have the deposit required and they don't need to float another $2000 in their bank account. They're trying to milk you aye!

When the California dealer I put the reservation with wouldn't commit to no ADM, in writing, I went to my account at Ford.com, looked up their helpline phone number, and called to change to a dealer in my area who WOULD, in writing, guarantee no ADM. Took about 5-6 days to get my reservation switched to the new dealer. Negotiate with your dealer, telling him that if you switch, the allocation goes to a new dealer, and you'll keep your reservation number (not go to the back of the line).

it actually works differently here in Canada. Ford Canada isn't really involved in the reservation. I actually signed a bill of sale with a deposit to purchase the vehicle with the dealership. my bill of sale actually lists the old pricing which was cheaper by 1k.

I got the select model with the package before they split them into comfort apperance and comfort tech.

Yes the dealer estimates the price but they will sell it to you at msrp when they receive it.

Do they own the car in this case? I mean In the U.S. you ordered the car directly from Ford? Again Canadian process different but I was under the impression that in the U.S. that Ford owns the car hence why dealers are not supposed to hold on to cancelled orders.

As for the 2000$, you already gave 500$. There is no reason to give more. Tgats pretty dishonest.

I understand the importance of dealers but if they are acting in this way then this process, the process Ford wanted to move to has failed so far.
