Did you read that in the manual? I missed that. I just charge to 90% a couple times a week.

You really don't drive enough to warrant daily charging. I charge to 90% and run it down to 20-30% before charging. If you want to go easier on the battery set your charge limit lower, maybe 80%.

Charge to 90%, daily, like the manual tells you to. ABC, Always Be Charging. Keep it plugged in. And your model is not "Great Performance", it's GT Performance Edition.

You are going to find so many opinions to your question! Personally I have my charge level set to 85% and just plug in daily. Ford recommends 90%. A form member, @MachLee, has shown that the battery voltage level at 90% (if I remember correctly) may be slightly detrimental to battery longevity so I dropped mine back to 85%. Keeping it charged has you ready for anything. I would charge to 100% only for a trip (unless I had an LFP battery). I leave the car as close to 50% as possible when I go away for more than a week.

I had read some electrical engineers reports regarding electric batteries and they said that if you want your battery to last a long time, you should not charge it up to 100% or even 90%. They said daily charging was best and that you should only charge as much as you need. I agree Ford. Manuel says something different and I was aware of that.

So, based on a YouTube about EV Battery Chemistry and charging someone posted a while back, EV batteries do best when kept at a higher SOC and recharged often. As I understand it, the heat buildup from charging is far more damaging than the charge itself.
I’d just set your charge limit to 80% (unless you have the SR LFP pack, then 90%) and plug in each night and don’t worry about it. @Mach-Lee may have some more detail.

You don't charge by mile, you charge to a %. For best battery health, you want to stay within 20-80% charge level, Don't run it down really low, and don't charge to 100% unless you need to go on a trip. No one is really sure how much it matters long term, but it definitely matters.

Just curious, if someone charges to 90% what do you predict the actual SOC might be? 86%? (Not sure how big the top and bottom buffers might be these days, and just asking what you think).

My commute is even less than yours (10.4 miles to work, 10.4 back). I set my GT-PE to charge to 85% indicated, which is very close to 80% actual, when buffers are taken into account. I charge on a 32A L2 dumb EVSE twice a week. I charge to 100% a couple of times per year (visiting friends/family). I have been considering dropping back to 65% indicated charge limit and charging daily. Too lazy to change it. ??

I think a lot of the stuff that has to do with 80% is total battery capacity. Since the battery has a buffer you aren't allow to use, I think the 90% Ford recommendation is just fine.
