I'm not sure what it means, if anything, but my window sticker says special order, not retail or stock order.
Retail or stock is shown in Status trackers. All customer online orders at least show as special orders on stickers

Got the official email from Ford tonight that my First Edition has been built and an estimated delivery around early February. My car was built on Dec 22nd so to be honest with the backlog of vehicles I thought I would be waiting much longer for it to be shipped...Hope the dates hold but it's nice to have some official information from Ford!

Does the 22 of Dec match the sticker date?

Mine updated today as well.

Estimated delivery of 02/05/2021. I had an estimated build of 12/17/20 and an actual build date of 12/24/20.
UPDATE: Dealer delivery date just updated to 01/20/21. Primary status of Awaiting Shipment.

This might actually happen!!

Unfortunately for me, my estimated delivery updated from 1/11 to 2/9 this morning on my Premium SR AWD.

Interestingly, my Premium SR AWD was built pretty early on 11/28, but it seems I am slow to ship - I am in Los Angeles. I also had made my MME reservation the morning after the reveal, so not among the very first reservation holders.

It seems like a lot of the earliest delivery dates are for First Editions from what people are posting. Anyone else notice that too? If so, might it always have been Ford’s plan to try and prioritize shipping out the FE’s first (I know some non-FE’s being delivered early too though) even if they were built out of order. Or could Ford have adjusted based on the outcry that followed the publication of the first build dates back in early November where many FE’s reserved even the night of the reveal seemed to not be prioritized in getting into customers’ hands?

I did get the email from Ford tonight (at about 7:30pm Eastern time) that my car is now "built" and started shipping.
I should add that at around 5:00am the following morning (Dec 31) I got another email changing the status from "Built" to "Shipped". (This did not change the arrival estimate ... that's still holding at around Feb 5 through 11).

I would not think that FEs are being prioritized - dont have much info on that. Perhaps they are and thats why your SR AWD is being delivered that late. But you reserved the car early enough and it is built already - so I am assuming you will receive your vehicle sooner than the dates stated.

Clarification: I called my dealer this morning and talked to the inventory manager. He said my car is actually not a Customer Order or Special Order, it is the first car the dealership ordered for inventory. He said it is still sitting in Mexico and the delay was due to a lot of software updates.
This is interesting because from what we've learned on this forum (there are smarter people than me that can chime in) is that dealers were only authorized to place orders for actual retail customers. They were not allowed to place orders to sit in inventory. They COULD place an order for a demo or test car, then sell it later.

Good news is I have an ETA now. Bad news it's... March 12. This is ridiculous. I'm in central Texas so why the long delivery time? ?

New edits today.

Dealers were allowed stock and retail orders. Some stock orders are demos and some are customer cars. Most all stock orders that I have seen were built before 11/23. Most retail orders were built after 11/23.

Most stock orders are still awaiting shipping. Most cars that have shipped are retail orders and it might remain that way for a bit longer...

Doesn't sound like we've figured out what transit date means then. Perhaps internal coding to shipments from the plant? Maybe days from production to shipment?

Dealers were also given extra allocation (not a lot of cars) at one point and it appears that this may be one of those.

I read something a couple of weeks ago about independent truckers being left out of COVID relief bill and also a movement to strike in protest for several recent record-keeping regulations and poor treatment (long wait times at destinations without compensation). Has anyone heard of this? I know from personal experience that it is often difficult to get drivers around the holidays because the operators want to be with their families rather than on the road in the middle of nowhere on Christmas or New Year's day. If there is an anticipated strike or protest, that may explain the much longer delivery times now that FORD has hired a professional shipping/logistics company. Not trying to hijack this thread, but might be relevant.

Good news today. My FE arrival date moved up 11 days to 2/12, Ford website says it is built for the first time and I should have more shipping information in a few days. Primary status says I'm officially in 'Awaiting Shipment'.
