We stopped getting updates June 2023. Had the car in last month and they had to update some modules and said the car should be good to go. We haven’t seen any new update since then. Can you please verify where we are with updates? Are we still June 2023 or are we relatively current? VIN 3fmtk3suxnma02850. Thank you
Your car is on the latest Sync version and has very few modules pending updates. It seems like your car was fully updated with FDRS at some point. I would not hold my breathe for updates if I were you, as there are very few things left to be updated on your car.

I was hoping to get some info on where my vehicle stands with regards to updates. It was built in July of ‘23, I took delivery April 9th. It seems that I don’t have the Charge Assist / Public Charging app, I don’t have Plug & Charge at Superchargers, and I still have the bug where the liftgate doesn’t always open fully. I’ve gotten one OTA update since buying the car, but it seems my car has fallen behind while sitting on the dealer lot.

My VIN is: 3FMTK3R75PMA63090

Thank you!

Well you should talk to your service advisor when dropping off the car and confirm that they are willing to update all the rest of these modules that are unrelated to just the powertrain items that are to be updated. Supposedly Ford has agreed to pay the labor to get all outstanding updates performed while the car is in the shop for that 23S56 recall. Make sure you confirm that with them and that this is your expectation.

3FMTK3SU1MMA45925-8-May-24.webp
Well, they said the recall was completed and the modules were updated. I hope that is true. Can you tell what Power Up level I am on? I can't seem to be able to locate that information.

VIN 3FMTK3SU1MMA45925

They were not able to fix the Wireless App Projection. They said Ford is experiencing a "glitch" and they are working on a fix. In the meanwhile, I can still use Android Auto by plugging in my phone to the USB like before.

Thanks again for all your assistance and advice. It is really appreciated!

You currently have no OTAs in queue...but that's not surprising since most people aren't getting them right now.

I see they didn't do the BCM and GFM updates...so I'm guessing you still don't have the ability to open your frunk from the driver's door keypad....or by using the Sync screen softbutton.

Hi Mike,

Can you please check my updates? I received a recall a while back that said it would be updated OTA but kept failing. I recently started receiving a lot of updates but want to make sure the recall is done.

Thank you in advance.

Okay you've got me.....you received a recall a while back...meaning you got a recall notification?

There is no service history for this VIN. You do have the stuck charge cord (23B50) as an open action...but dealers aren't doing those right now, until Ford says it's okay to start that one back up again. When that eventually happens all of your powertrain modules will get updated (PCM, ABS, BECM, SOBDM, SOBDMB, SOBDMC).

On the OTA front your latest one was 23-PU1113-UNX-DC on the 9th. Nothing else in the queue for your car right now.

Here's the list of available updates in FDRS:
Ford Mustang Mach-E Post here if you have an active FDRS account and are willing to look up info for others 3FMTK3SU8NMA47673-10-May-24

OTAs for cruise control related stuff (CMR, IPMA, PSCM) just aren't going out to anybody right now.

Dealers do not touch any settings for OTAs or anything else before selling the car.

Have there been issues where cars sat so long on the lot that a tech had to intervene to get past a specific dependency hump? Yes. And it's usually a gateway update (or TCU) that manages to break the logjam.

So apparently your car did try to update the APIM (Sync) a few days ago and it didn't take ("Application Lifecycle Manager Install Failure"...whatever that is when it's at home...)
3FMTK4SX3PMA6036525-Apr-24OTA.webp

And you have an update for the APIM that could be applied using FDRS.
3FMTK4SX3PMA6036525-Apr-24.webp

I've marked the powertrain modules with red stars...those are to be avoided right now due to an issue that will result in 1PD quitting repeatedly and possibly drive mode changes from whatever you had it set to...to something else, which might change the way your regen braking functions.
So best to avoid those.

So yeah, that APIM could get updated, and if you got the OBCC done that would enable the Tesla Supercharger charging to work.
VIN = 3FMTK4SX3PMA60365

So the dealership took the car in about a week ago, worked on it for about six hours apparently. They said they completely reprogrammed the CMR module, the Gateway module, and the IPMA module. On a side note, BlueCruise seems to be working now, whereas before it was spotty or not working at all.

Afterwards, I asked them if everything was where it should be, and the guy said "Everything is up to date, except for the Powertrain stuff that's on hold". His words, not mine.

Could I trouble someone to check it again, and confirm the things that they did to it, and the things that are still needing to be done. Thanks in advance.

Also, a few questions/comments ...

1. Given that this 2023 car sat on the lot for almost a year with few or no OTA updates before I bought it in mid-April, the Sync4 Version is currently 23031, Revision 713. As I understand it, this is a fairly outdated version, so outdated that I don't have a BlueCruise Maps Version, I have "Hands Free Driving Available Thru 03-09-2074". Is it normal that the dealer didn't update this when they had it in the shop? Is this something that I should be concerned about, enough to press them to update it, or should I just relax and wait for it to update over time?

2. Can you tell if the car is still on Power-Up 4.2.4? That's where it was before I took it to the dealer. I called up the national Ford OTA hotline and asked if they could tell what Power-Up version the car had, and the person said that they did not even know what a "Power-Up" was (no, I'm not making this up, they thought it was something from a video game). Same question as above, should I be pressing the dealer to update this, or just wait it out?

3. They did not address the main reason that I took the car in to the dealer, which is that the "Connectivity icon" (the icon with the up arrow, down arrow, and mouse pointer) that is supposed to come on when you are in AT&T cell phone range, to indicate that the car is communicating with the Ford mothership, will often go hours and days at a time without coming on. I can be parked in my driveway one day, and it will work fine, next day it won't come on. Same thing while I'm driving on I-75 ... one day it works, next day it doesn't. In fact, the EV tech said that he was not even aware of this issue and had never heard of it happening. When this Connectivity icon isn't displayed, and you click on "Connected Vehicle Features", you can't even access the pull-down menu options, so (presumably?) the car isn't available for OTA updates. Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a home fix for this? Is there any fix that people have figured out on this forum, that I can print out and bring to the EV Tech?

4. Can you tell if they did the update which allows the car to sync with the Tesla chargers?

5. Keeping in mind (1) that I bought this car new three weeks ago, and prefer to have a car that's reasonably up-to-date (or at least on track to becoming up-to-date) before I start to make payments on it, and (2) starting in late May, I will be out of town for about four months, and the car will not be used and will be stored in my garage, should I be making an effort to get more updates/fixes on this vehicle in the next couple of weeks, or should I just relax and let the updates roll in if and when they do?

Thanks.

They updated the CMR, PSCM, IPMA and GWM. Based on that you are still somewhere between 4.2.4 and 6.3.0. Your connectivity seems to be working fine as I can pull all connected data. The Tesla charger update would be an OBCC update which they didn't do. You had an APIM update sent today that failed due to a corrupted manifest; this happens a lot and does not mean there is anything wrong with your car. Yes, waiting it out is all you can do.

If anyone has the time would yall be able to take a look at mine? I just purchased it about 3 weeks ago. 2023 Route 1 and has a build date of end of last year. I haven't gotten any updates on it as a owner so just trying to judge where I'm at on the terms of updates. Thanks!

Hi Mike,

Sorry, I thought the stuck charge cord was a recall. That is what I was referring to.

Do you know why the dealers are not doing this right now? I ask because they let me schedule an appointment for this.

Thanks.

Hello! I'm a relatively new owner of a 2023 GTPE (Purchased mid-march) that I think sat on the lot for a long time. As best I can tell, we're not up to date on software. When we first brought it home, we had OTA updates coming every few days but that stopped about a month ago.

It was in to the dealer yesterday for issues with the main screen going black & sometimes restarting. When we got it back, they said they'd updated the car fully but I'd like to make sure as there's no obvious differences and, if anything, we're having more issues with the main screen since picking it up -- so I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me get visibility into what needs to be updated still, if anything... VIN: 3FMTK4SX6PMA56245

Thanks in advance!

They updated your powertrain related modules and that's it. I guess they didn't get the memo about doing the rest of the stuff on this list on Ford's dime while the car was in for the recall:
3FMTK3SU1MMA45925-10-May-24.png

I see they didn't do the BCM and GFM updates...so I'm guessing you still don't have the ability to open your frunk from the driver's door keypad....or by using the Sync screen softbutton.
Well shoot. I even sent the dealer your original list and verified they would be done. Unfortunately, I am like a kindergartener with the behind the scenes technology. I am so ignorant that I had to look up BCM (for those few left who do not know, it's Body Control Module) and GFM (Generic Function Module - the one that controls the frunk?).

However, after looking up how to open the frunk with the drivers side door keypad, I was able to complete that task. I had no idea I was able to do that! Thank you! And I also have a button on my Sync screen that I can press to open the frunk. Hopefully a photo is attached to verify I understand "Sync screen softbutton."

I looked at the software update screen and it still says the same thing when it arrived August 16th, 2023. Also, the Ford app show no messages about any updates. So I still do not know what software update I have.

On my paperwork, in the Correction section to my complaint of no OTA updates, he wrote: "mtime to reprogram the APIM, GWM, TCU modules to the latest version" Does this mean I am in the Power Up 6.xxx area?

Additionally, I am not a forum savvy poster. I hope this works. Thanks again!
