Hi Folks,

Charged last night, charge ended at ab out 1 am. at about 5 am for 2 messages on my phone app:

Electrical system drain service required (said possibly caused by after market device of which we have none)

Plug in to maintain 12V battery.

Obviously it had just been plugged in, and in fact still was. This morning it seemed fine, turned right on all came up, but still had error message on car scree re electrical system drain. I will try to make an appointment to take to local Ford dealer, but anyone else have this?

TIA,

Steve

Hiya, I posted about this today as well. It’s a couple threads down. Basically seems to be a non-issue (probably)

Was there any fix to this warning. Should i be concerned. I also got same notification. Do we need to go to a dealer to get it checked.

I would check the 12v state of charge. Keep an eye on it to make sure there is not some 12v battery drain or sudden acute battery failure.

Thanks folks - interesting that a number of us had the exact same thing happen last night. There was no obvious announced update, but who knows, could also be the change over to the new app? Anyway, made an appt to bring it in tomorrow and they will check 12 volt.

I had this happen 2x in the last couple weeks and took it in. They didn’t find anything wrong with the battery or electrical, but applied a couple updates. It hasn’t happened again so far.

My car is now at Ford, be curious to hear if the updates fixed theganyo's problem long term - please give updates. I will report what they tell me.

This message causes more confusion than it helps. Plugging in does not charge the 12v battery.. Also, when the 12v battery drops below 12.1v the HVB is supposed to connect and charge the 12v.
I have begun to keep my MME “running“ in my garage for eight hours or so to charge the 12v battery. This only drops the HVB by 1or2 perc.ent and keeps that dumb message off my phone.

kind of amazing they would send such a message when it is misleading. Oh well. Have not heard from the dealer.
In my motorhome, the chassis battery is recharged by the house batteries or shore current in the same way.

I'll look at it as a bug, to be corrected at a future date.
If the HVB is low then plugging in will charge both batteries. The 12v will receive power from the plug-in charger only if the HVB is charging. So plugging in when the HVB doesn't need a charge will not charge the 12v, or the 12v battery charging will stop once the HVB has reached its charge limit.
If you drive a lot and always charge the HVB then this isn't an issue and the messages don't happen. Unless of course there is something wrong with the 12v.
If you're like me and hardly drive at all or only take small trips, then it isn't a show stopper but the phone messages and the screen warnings seem unjustified.
Leaving the car running in the garage seems to charge the 12v.

So here is an update - I do have some kind of problem. The local Ford dealer tested the 12 volt battery, and it failed. They replaced it. They can can see a load on it that is apparently above the expected amount when the car is off, so they are going to pull each breaker one by one to see what is doing it. This had to happen on another day. Clearly the problem is not catastrophic - we've had the car 10 months.

Mine seems to go down virtually all of the time unless I plug in to charge. It seems strange that having all of those kW available, and it isn't programed to keep the 12V battery topped off. I will ask when I schedule my HVBJB replaced.

I'm having the same exact issue with my 23 GT. 20K miles in 10 months.

I Had 12 volt battery replaced UNDER WARRANTY 3 weeks ago. Seems like once or twice a week I still get the 12v. Low battery warning. I travel about 110, very hilly miles a day (Northern NH). I Plug the HVB in nightly. From 45% - 80% charge points nightly. Going in to the dealership beginning of June for the 20k check where they will take a look at charge system and others to see if they can find the issue.

It seems that 12 volt problems are not totally uncommon in any EV. As I said before, my motor home has an electric monitoring system that automatically transfers power from my bank of Li ion batteries for the coach to the chassis batteries if there are detected below a certain level. Not sure if the MME has such a feature and if so why it does not seem to work appropriately. Even gas cars nowadays have drains when off - plenty of them get OTA updates for example. I will let people know what happens after the next visit which is Wednesday.

Though I hate to bring up the dark side, does anyone know if Teslas are subject to 12V problems? My brother has one and no issues with this.
