My neighbor asked me for a ride to the Kia dealership. She was having some warranty work done on her EV6.

First words out of her mouth was “wow fancy “. That was from telling her to push the button to open the door. I didn’t even think about people never opening a Mach E before.

Her next comment was that she liked the seats and that they were much more comfortable than hers.

She had nothing but positive comments about my car.

I have never been in her car and probably never will.

Always good to hear positive comments on our MME’s.

I test drove an ev6 a couple of weeks ago as a possible Mach-e replacemen for reasons related to the lame, and only, Ford dealer on the island. What I loved about the EV-6? The Hilo dealer is all in on EVs. What I thought about the car itself? I was underwhelmed.

Personally I like the buttons on the doors and the look of not having handles. That being said, it is frustrating everytime you give someone a ride for the first time and you have to give them a whole walkthrough of how to open the door.

“Okay push the button. No… the button…. The circle with the white circle inside of it”

Sometimes I just end up reaching over and opening the door from the inside for them

[/QUOT are you being generous on the rating?

Really ?? I just do the old point and poke method.

Agree with you on the whole handle-less look of the car! Who would have thought Ford of all manufacturers would be among the first to eliminate door handles entirely on a production car? Not even Tesla dared do that until the Cybertruck!

I even take the no handles approach as a security measure. Keeps little kids from jumping into my car without my authorization! No more tugging on the handles of a locked car either!

At some point I need to check out a Mach other than racing them and looking at them on the dealership lot. The fit and finish looked okay on the ones I checked out, but that was really as far as I got with it.

Yeah, the EV6 just visually isn’t my cup of tea, but the GT is a hot little number. Still a Kia tho.
Taycan and BMW I4M50 is always an option if you're looking for a nameplate that carries more clout than Ford/Kia/GM/etc, as well as the MB AMG stuff.

When the battery dies how complicated is entry?

For what it's worth, Korea has the most advanced car building factories on planet Earth. Korean brands were recycled steel rust heaps in the 80s. The year is now 2024 and now they have the best factories.

Pop the little plug in the front bumper to put a jump box to the frunk opening wires. Then pull the trim in the frunk to access the 12V battery and jump as usual to open the doors. Not "easy" ... but I'd say maybe just tedious.

That's absurd. Why did Ford do this?
