Hello MME Family,
This is my first time posting something, but please kindly read my story and let me know what I could do...

I purchased a new 2024 Mustang Mach-E GT on June 3, 2024. Leading up to the purchase, I visited three Ford dealerships around my city on June 1 and June 3, 2024. All the dealerships consistently told me that charging would be free for five years or up to a certain amount at Tesla and other charging stations that are part of Ford’s network. However, after buying the car and charging several times at Electrify America (EA) stations, I kept being charged. When I contacted Ford Customer Service, they informed me that the promotion had ended on June 1, 2024, and therefore, I was not eligible for it. They advised me to seek compensation directly from the dealership.

However, the dealership avoided responsibility by claiming that Ford had not informed them properly, and the only compensation they offered for the misinformation I received was free charging at their dealership. This charging is not even fast charging but just Level 2 charging. It has been confirmed that there was indeed a lack of proper training and guidance to the dealerships from Ford, as all the dealerships around my city were unaware that the promotion had ended. It seems that the sales managers might have been aware, but the frontline dealers were not.

I hope that Ford reads this and provides appropriate compensation to customers like me who purchased based on incorrect information.

Well, that's the first I heard of them removing the 250kw freebie. I did some digging in Ford's site and there is no mention of freebies at this point, just 'no annual fees' for BOCN. I know Tesla was never giving any free KW to those NACS adapter holders so on that the dealerships were all completely wrong. Only free KW charging was on the EA network.

ā€˜Promises’…no ā€˜contractsā€˜ made, ā€˜contractsā€˜ kept…I would recommend you have a heart-to-heart with the Dealer Principal, and/or GM of the franchise, and let them inform you of how they plan to honor their commitment made by their employee.

ā€Fair and Honorā€ is a Win-Win for all involved…just sayin…

The ONLY free charging that was ever offered with the Mach-E was 250kWh at Electrify America. Depends where you live as to the value, but let's call it $125.

There was never "5 years free", and never at Tesla. ONLY at Electrify America, and you have to use the Ford app or Plug and Charge.

Yes, I did read that it was going away, don't recall the date. This had been in place for 3 1/2 years, so not surprising that they didn't know it was going away.

I never had heard of 5 free years from Ford.

The free fast charging was 250 kWh at EA only when I got my car.

The dealers were full of FUD…

I believe that VW’s get 3-5 years of free charging at EA and that’s why they cover them like Ants.

Good luck. Maybe you might get 250 kWh but 5 years…Never going to happen!

by the way, how do you like your 24 GT ?

Sorry, your sales people either lied (what a shocker!) or were uniformed (what a shocker!).

It was 250kWh of free charging at Electrify America ONLY. It expired after 3 years.

However, Ford ended that program effective June 1 and sent that to every dealership on May 13.

Ford Mustang Mach-E I wonder if somebody is in same situation as I am? no more 250 kWh free chargin

Recording laws vary state-to-state. Regardless, if you don't get it in writing, and signed by management, you're going to have a hard time.
As the others have posted, the only thing from your post that was ever true was 250 kWh free at Electrify America stations only. A small number of early 2021 owners also got a bonus 250 due to the delays in delivery of their cars.

The five years of free charging has to stand out as one of the most over the top lies by dealers.
Before we all go crazy on the dealers I would like to roll out that perhaps there was a misunderstanding. I can not imagine 3 dealers spreading this similar disinformation. Not saying they didn’t but sometimes we need to think about things a bit.

Im almost with you on this except for the "5 years" part . The mistake /misunderstanding could have been that the act of charging ( plug and charge ) was gonna be free for a period of time but not the energy used .
Navigation, connected services have a free period before requiring a subscription .
Its like saying the shower is free to use but the water costs $X amount per minute/gallon .
The thing is the 5 years . 3 years would be a misunderstanding possibly but where'd the FIVE come from ???

Once again no one would say five years free charging. Might have been the Blue Oval deal someone mentioned. As for myself 26 months and no DCFC yet. Later this summer I may take the plunge and take a 700 mile trip (but I will test in town first!)

Leave the dealer a bad review for lying about free charging. That’s about all you can do.

250 kWh on Electrify America was the only charging promotion, which has ended for purchases made after June 1st. They didn’t read their emails.

I know Lucid was (is still?) 3 years free at EA.

But those cars also start at $70k.

Which is a perfect example of how ineffective Ford’s training is. The fact that 3 different Ford dealers all said the same, WRONG thing is certainly telling. Three years ago this car was a new thing and we were all dumbfounded at how much we knew and the salesmen didn’t even though they were EV certified. Three years later it’s still dumbfounding.

It’s not just Ford though. Friend of mine bought a Lyric. When his portable charger was malfunctioning, the service advisor told him how his car could charge at Tesla chargers. True, but no mention that an adapter was required. I told him how the dealers’ answers were frequently wrong.
