Thank you for posting my updates in the other thread. Continuing the conversation here since I believe it makes more sense in this thread.

For the PSCM and IPMA, you said it can take 3 hours togehter... I've got a 30 Amp DC 13.8V power supply, but I want to say I read for some updates that's not sufficient. Is that correct?

And since I don't have updates for the SCCM and CMR, does that mean updating the PSCM and IPMA will NOT get me BC 1.4 or is it that I ONLY now need those two updates to get to BC 1.4?
I would recommend a 40amp minimum for those.

Installing the PSCM/IPMA will give you BC 1.4 if you already have BC 1.2 or 1.3. If you vehicles are on 1.0, then those updates will give you the improved stability of 1.4, but not the lane change assist and other features with BC 1.2 and above. For that, you need FORScan.

I have seen 43A draws on IPMA and APIM updates. There have been reports from some others as high as 46A. On those longer updates I wouldn’t want anything less than 40A, preferably 50A on the supply. ??

Interesting. Sounds like I need to research some options and upgrade to something >50A.

Also, the irony of this all...I just got an email from EAP indicating that my vehicle will soon get BC 1.3.

"The BlueCruise 1.3 software package includes robust updates to enable the best possible hands-free highway driving experience for your vehicle. BlueCruise 1.3 builds on BlueCruise 1.2 features – Lane Change Assist and In-Lane Repositioning – and offers an even better hands-free highway driving experience thanks to improved performance, including around curves and narrow lanes. "

Now I'm wondering what will be different for 1.4...

I figured there is no better way to get the OTA floodgates to open then to invest in an FDRS setup.

Yes. You will need FDRS to get the actual software. You will then need FORScan to enable the new features. If and when you do this, message me and I can help you get it done.
I haven't followed this thread for a while. Wow, I didn't know that it's now possible to get BC 1.4 on 2021J1.

If Ford doesn't provided any further update on BC1.4, I'll want to take the FDRS route for both of my 2021J1 Mach E. I'll get some free time to tinker with the cars in mid August.

I've done FDRS in the past for my first 2021J1 to get BC1.0 and to get the first refreshed UI.

What I do find curious, I have still never got an OTA. Now I did fully update in FDRS...so maybe that's that.

But when I check the OTA 'details' JSON data that shows up on the Ford Website /Full health details I get:

Feel like inhibitStatus should be DEINHIBITED from trying to see what other people have posted about this before.

Installing IPMA will give you 1.3 which is the current version. Please stop telling people it’s 1.4. Remember new 2024s are shipping with 1.3.

It is assumed to be 1.4 because the IPMA software is different from what vehicles with 1.3 have on them. It is also different from the strategy in the BC 1.3 update that was reported a little while ago here. It may or may not be 1.4, but it certainly is not the same as 1.3.

Their versioning is a little confused, there are multiple versions of 1.3. At this point I'm about 95% sure what will be released to older vehicles will be called 1.3, so we should be going with that so people have the correct expectations of what they're getting.

1.3 is what's installing on one of my vehicles right now via OTA. It'll be interesting to see what FDRS updates are still available on it after this completes...that's if it does. I am curious why the FDRS update needs a battery maintainer, but this 95 minute OTA install does not?

I've confirmed the DC/DC converter runs during the IPMA OTA. FDRS uses a different programming approach than the OTA version that requires the 12V power supply.

You got me thinking, so I did a little digging. Attached screenshot is of a 2021 Mach E that got 7.0.0 before it was pulled. The IPMA strat is on -ACJ which is the same one you can get with FDRS. The member did not want to share his VIN publicly, so I blacked it out. I looked through vehicle history and can confirm no updates have been done with FDRS to this vehicle. This new 1.3 update updates the strat to -BAE which seems to be newer than the -ACJ in FDRS.

That remains a mystery, but they're calling it 1.3 now. ?‍♂
