What could you power with your Mach E 12v outlet?

Several powers outages today after storms. Got me wondering if you used one of those converters plugged in to the MME 12v port, what AC things could you safely power? My owners manual says don’t use anything that draws more than 20 amps. Got some seriously smart people on this forum- maybe you could tell us what appliances or tools could run off the MME and an estimate of how long?

There are less than 10-20 watts available in those plugs, so maybe a laptop.

The F-150 offers the ability to power your house from it's HV battery, but the MachE does not. Your only real hope for power outages is to just get a generator or whole home battery (or trade-in for an F-150)

I have a habitrail with hamsters generating electricity ?
I assume that powers a hamster-sized coffee pot?

on a serious note, a number of members are using a direct-connect to the battery to run a bigger inverter. The DC-DC charger is good for 70A, if memory serves. You are outside the realm of a manufacturer-supported solution with this. I would instead invest in a UPS sized to my risk-tolerance.

Please don’t shame but I’m on a level 1. My main box is over 1000 feet away and would cost several thousands to install. I work from home so I’m ok with the slow charge. Enjoy the weekend!

Where is the 12v port? Do you mean the cigarette lighter port in the right rear under the lift gate?

If you really want to go there find the thread where a forum member has instructions to tap into the LVB. Then start your car and you are good for quite some time. Can’t remember what the power limit was though. Certainly not set up to power your house in any event. Maybe in the future though. I have a whole-house generator and would rather count on that.

So I learned on this thread that the big battery isn’t powering the 12v plug? Bummer. I too have a generator for the house as well as backup batteries off solar field so I’m good at home. I was thinking rather of being able to power some DeWalt and Makita battery chargers away from home

the 12v ports are 20a max (200watts at 12v)... so, not much.

however, if you connect a small but decent inverter to the 12v connection points, you can extract up to 2000watts at 120vAC and run plenty of critical stuff like your refrigerator, laptop, modem, lights, etc.

I'm a full-time RV'r and have a Powerboost and a GTPE.

It is kind of funny that my truck can provide 7.2KW of AC power elegantly using the HVB, which is only 1.5 KWH.

But my Mach-E has an HVB 60 times that size and can't run a coffee pot. ??

There’s another one in the center console. But neither is rated to power much. Every EV should have a 120V AC outlet, IMO.
My 2017 Fusion Energi PHEV has a conventional 120v two prong outlet in the rear of the center console. (y)

Lots of cars do. The inverters in ICE cars are usually fairly low power, but PHEVs and BEVs can take advantage of the HVB to include 120V outlets up to 1500 watts. I’m sure its omission was a cost cutting measure in the MME, but I consider it a missed opportunity.

I'm fortunate that my Solar system provides both EV charging and 20 kWh battery backup so that's one technical problem I have a solution for already.

The receptacle was designed for low wattage devices. I use it for a tire pump and small dust sweeper. I would imagine you could use it for:
Electric razor
Electric toothbrush
Laptop (usually pulls 2 amps)
Small TV
Years ago when NFL home games were not televised, I would travel in my VW camper to a turnpike rest stop and watch the came with a small TV with a cable that could use the 12v receptacle.
