Good morning. Would appreciate a check on VIN 3FMTK3SU1MMA02587

I received Power-Up 6.14 at the end of March and some of the other miscellaneous Priority Updates since (FTDI-FX, 6CH-AUD) but BLM-PE did not complete three weeks ago. I have driven plenty in the interim. Guess I have to wait for Ford servers to offer it up again, but wondered if there's any indication as to why BLM-PE failed.

Thanks!

Good morning. I've never checked for FDRS since I bought the car, and don't know what is or isn't waiting. Anyone mind checking?

Thanks!

I'm new to this game. I'm not super worried about being the first to get downloads. But, will these EVER download OTA or are these FDRS-only?

Given the number and scope across so many modules, it does seem to me like I would want these done at some point.

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out here in desperation, hoping for some help from this forum. Since August, my Mach-E has been plagued by severe communication issues. There seems to be something wrong with the TCU (Telematics Control Unit). FordPass refuses to activate anymore. After removing and reinserting the TCU fuses, the car sporadically regains an internet connection, but FordPass remains inactive. Could someone please check if my car is still “alive” and confirm the TCU’s software version? Can you see if the TCU is provisioned?

I’d be incredibly grateful for any assistance here! Dealers and Ford (here in Germany) have been entirely unhelpful, with no solutions in sight. All they want is money (especially since it’s out of warranty) for a new TCU (over 1,200 EURO here!). THANK YOU!

My VIN: WF0TK1EM6MMA30790

A lot definitely happened on May 10th with your car, but I can't read German :)

I don't see any pending updates for your TCU, but those might deliver via OTA only. I'll defer to someone more knowledgeable than me.

Your modem shows as not authorized, so we are limited in terms of what we can see. I cannot see any codes your car may be reporting that can be an indication as to whether the issue is hardware related or not. Your OTA history shows APIM update 4.2.2.1 has been sent to you 4 times in the past 2 months and it failed every time because your car never pinged the server back when the OTA trigger was created.

There is an issue here where the country code in the TCU of many vehicles was somehow changed causing vehicles to go offline. I can easily check the country code on your car, but I do not know what the proper country code should be for Germany. If you can get the VIN from another German based Sync 4 Ford vehicle that has connectivity working, I can compare it to yours to see if that is the issue. If that is the case, you can easily fix it with FORScan. I would recommend getting FORScan anyway so you can pull the codes your car is reporting.

My car had a similar number of updates pending when I decided to get the $500 Mongoose adapter and $150 power supply to update them all myself. I think most of these are customer satisfaction related updates, but I did get the 6.14 OTA update shortly after updating everything. I didn't personally notice any difference after updating everything aside from the 6.14 icon updates, but I'm the kind of person who just feels better knowing I'm fully updated.

You either pay for the hardware to update yourself, find someone near you and drive to them with a case of beer for payment, or find a sympathetic dealer willing to put in the hours (so many hours) to get it all done.

If you're happy with the way the car works now, nothing to worry about.

If there are quirks and issues or just things that make you wonder if the car should be doing that, you might be waiting a very long time for an OTA update. Some folks waited years just to have the ability to unlock and open the frunk with a button on screen just to give an extreme example.

Ultimately, it all depends on how much tolerance and patience you have for Ford to get you the updates you want.

So your modem is properly provisioned for your country. At the very least, that is one thing that can be ruled out in terms of what is causing the issue. For your sake, I wish this would have been the issue as the fix is easy. The only other thing you can do is to get FORScan or any device that allows you to pull the soft codes your car is reporting to see if there are any clues there. I have seen cases where TU's have to be replaced. I have seen cases where a GWM has to be updated or replaced to restore connectivity issues, too. With or without seeing what your car is complaining about, it is difficult to diagnose an issue like this remotely, but the codes would help.

I’m so grateful to you. These are the first valuable pieces of information I’ve received. I suspect the Ford engineers here in Germany are clueless, and my dealership even more so. It’s a shame it wasn’t related to the Country Code. Still, a thousand thanks for these initial leads and guidance.

So, the modem is properly provisioned but ‘Not authorized,’ as you mentioned? Could Ford need to do something here (Server-side)? Could you also share screenshots from FDRS so I can assist the dealership better?

Any further ideas? :(

I don't think your issue made it to Ford engineers when you took the car to the dealer based on what I can see they did in vehicle history. This is where PTS shows the modem is not active. The thing is, your modem was working at one point, so I don't think Ford sending an activation signal to your modem is the issue here. If it was working and then it stopped, then something caused it to stop.

You could try a master reset, but I doubt that will do anything if you already tried pulling the fuse. You could also try connecting the car to wifi to see if I can pull the codes that way. I am not sure if the codes are reported to the server ONLY through cellular, but it doesn't to try. Being able to see the codes in PTS would be ideal because it may reference any SSM's or TSB's that pertain to your issue. The only thing I can think of other than that is that you pull the codes yourself and let me know what they are. I will have to research them to see if any of them coincide with the issue you're having. I don't mind trying to help, but I need to codes to have a chance to further assist.

Thank you very much! So, I have an OBD2 dongle (WiFi) and the "Car scanner" app on my iPhone. However, as far as I can see, there are no error codes. Is that what you mean by seeing codes?

I also connected the vehicle via my phone hotspot with WiFi yesterday, but it didn't make any difference. I've already performed the Master and Connectivity resets multiple times.

I think I'll have to go to the dealership after all and hope that in the end, I won't have to pay EUR 1,200 + diagnosis + installation...
