Those sorts of imperfections would drive me absolutely up the wall. I couldn't handle it. I need factory paint or nothing, which is why I wish they'd offer more interesting colors, even if there's a premium for them. I'd pay far more than the $400 they want for the red if I could get the Grabber Yellow from the gas Mustang on a Premium Mach-E painted at the factory.
Yeah, it really is a shame they didn't have more "fun" with the colors. I saw a red and a grey on the lot and walked right by the grey because I didn't notice it. Ford should want people to SEE this car.

My Rapid Red is supposedly getting built this week. I went with that because my '65 convertible is red. The more I see the Grabber Blue, the more I doubt my choice!

I know I read on here months ago about some study that was conducted where the most popular car colors were white, black, gray, silver, etc. But my main though was it's a chicken and egg scenario, you can't say car buyers don't buy cars in unique colors because they are rarely offered. I almost don't even consider red as a color for a car because of the old wives tale about them getting more tickets because they stand out so much. But why couldn't they offer the same color palate as the current Mustang lineup? Where's the Kona Blue, Twister Orange, Velocity Blue, Grabber Lime? I would love to have a twister orange right now? I don't regret my Iconic Silver, because I thought it would be the most unique in the sea of gray.

Exactly. When you don't allow the customer to decide what they want, you can easily create a self-fulfilling cycle of "people bought the Mach-E without lime, that therefore means no Mach-E customer wanted lime" but that isn't necessarily true. It just means you forced them to compromise and left revenue on the table, or they paid someone aftermarket to wrap it and again, you lost out on that revenue.

Or the modern approach -- a full body wrap like this one:
wrapped-blue-Premium-NY.jpeg
YESSSS!!!

THIS is the color I wanted! But not being an option, I agonized between Infinite Blue, and Iconic silver because i didn't like either. I ended up selecting Star White, but I'm not in love. If it were more pearlescent, i think it would be better.

I'm seriously considering a wrap.

And black was overwhelmingly the most popular Model-T color.

Same here....perhaps someone who's done it before can provide some kind of cost estimate??

Yes, what a difficult choice to make. :)
I am thinking to order the red one, especially as in the Belgium configurator, the seats of the AWD are black with red stitching and have red brake calipers. This should look very nice as a total, I guess.

It just seems odd to me that in 2021 you can't get a quality paint job - even OEM paint. Weird.
You absolutely can get high quality paint jobs. They just cost a lot of money. FIgure $2k for paint and $90 to $140 an hour for the labor and you're looking at probably $9 to $15k to paint a car that doesn't need body work. But, you'll end up with a paint job that is far superior to an OEM job. It's actually pretty easy to get to $30-40k for paint and body on a high end muscle car restoration these days.

I can't really say I'm agonizing over the Carbonized Gray that I chose, but I would have chosen Performance Blue or Liquid Blue if offered. Here's the color palette and my thoughts on each:

Grabber Blue - I already have a Grabber Blue Shelby
Infinite Blue - I saw an Exploder in this color and it just wasn't for me
Rapid Red - I've had 2 red Boss 302's, and I'm ready for a different color
Space White - Looks like it'll appear like faded primer in a few years
Iconic Silver - Not a bad choice, probably my second if forced to choose
Carbonized Gray - I think it'll look great with black tinted windows and maybe some Shelby Stripes
Shadow Black - Pretty much impossible to keep black looking good without a daily detail
Star White Metallic - I already have a white F250 4x4 diesel Crew Cab 6-Speed

And for reference, this is Liquid Blue:

This is probably the route I will ultimately go. Gray with the addition of tint and stripes.

Do you do vinyl for the stripes?

For the price of this car I kind of expected at least 1-2 “exotic” color options that strayed away from normal colors manufactures offer like red, black, white, and gray. I was happy when I saw the orange and grabber blue but disappointed that these are only available for the GT model.

Maybe Ford thought Infinite Blue was the “special” color for the Mach-E but to me it’s more of a failed attempt to copy (Mercedes?) colors.
And, it doesn’t really make any sense why there aren’t more exotic colors offered. These cars are order only, meaning, they don’t have to mass produce a lime or purple color and hope it sells. They could offer 30 colors and only need to make the few that get ordered of a particular color. Unless there’s something with the paint prep that costs them a lot of money, I don’t see why they don’t offer more options for a “to-order” car.

This is happening as we speak in my garage my boys are wrapping a customer's car, not my choice of color but our MME will be wrapped. It both protects the paint underneath and allows me to play with colors and the price is right the kids labor ?
