yeah I don’t get it either. I’ve spoken to more than 1 person and they just don’t want to bother or don’t understand how to. One lady stayed on the call with me a bit and had me reboot sync and said she was pushing an update or something but I never got anything and that telematic lock never goes away. They just stick with the same excuse that they see no issues with my vehicle getting OTAs (which it will do or try once in a blue moon).
So yeah for whatever reason I have not had luck conveying a simple request to make it retail only or it’s not as clear how to do that on their end. ?
We may have already talked about this but does your dealer show in their system that this car is still in the FCTP program or showing as a fleet vehicle? They can check that.

I never called the dealer. Only that Ford EV Team number. If I call the dealer I purchased from should I ask for Service and do you think they'll know what FCTP Program means?

FWIW.. I called my dealer that I purchased from and explained the situation. The Service rep looked up my vin and said it is NOT listed as one of their Demo vehicles. He also mentioned I bought it brand new and it has extremely little miles on it which also would indicate it was NOT a demo vehicle. He didn't know what to do other than offer to have me bring it in and they'd see what they could do to remove the Telematics lock. They are not very close to me and I have doubt they'd be able to do anything more than I could or already did (in regards to software updates at least).

It says wifi required, so should i connect to wifi instead?
Yes. for that one. It's the only one so far that says it needs it. This update is basically a test to see if wifi connections will work using the TCU. It's literally only a few kilobytes, no heavy lifting with this one.

"Bricked" is kindof a generic term.

Did your car do the 'doors won't open but the battery is not dead' routine that we're seeing with other '23 models? Is that what you mean?

Here's your PTS landing page showing the 24P16 12V battery test program and also your OTA page showing you have two OTAs waiting to get applied.

@Mike G update! Service center just let me know that I can pick up my car. They said it's 12v battery issue and they replaced it.

Can you please re-run my VIN and see if they took care of the recall 24p16 and updated the pending updates?

Thank you!!

Your car received a trigger for OTA 4.2.1 yesterday and will download it the next time you drive it. It will either install at your next scheduled setting time or you can select "Update Now" before shutting the car off after your drive (if it's completely downloaded by then). 4.2.1 is a gateway update and is necessary for follow-on updates.

Here's the list of available updates showing in FDRS:
3FMTK4SE2PMA44401-23-Jul-24.webp

Your car is so behind from sitting on the dealer's lot with no ability to get OTAs (dealers do not enable OTAs in Sync while they have the car).

Because your car sat for so long on a dealer's lot (roughly 13 months), before your next drive I would do the BMS reset dance (below) to help ensure your 12V battery gets fully recharged by the car the next time you drive it.

To reset the 12V BMS learned values do this before your next drive:

Without pressing the brake pedal touch the start button to put the car in accessory mode.

Using the left stalk, flash the high beams 5 times.

Press the brake pedal 3 times.

Observe the small red battery icon in the instrument cluster flash 3 times.

Press the start button to shut the car off.

Now start the car as normal and go for a drive (30 mins or more would be ideal). This should fully recharge your 12V battery.

This isn't something you want to do often. Just the once to help ensure your car's 12V battery is getting fully charged after sitting for so long on the dealer's lot.
@Mike G Thanks! So how do the updates download? Only while car is on? or is there a benefit to connecting to my home wifi? I guess after 4.2.1 the other updates will follow also? Sorry new to all this OTA updates on ford models.

Vehicle history does not show they updated anything. If they did replace the battery, I cannot see that in FDRS. I can tell you they didn't use FDRS for a BMS reset and I also don't see an RCCM reset done which would be part of that recall. However, it your car was bricked and they had someone from FSE go out to your car with their special software, we won't be able to see what they did in vehicle history. Based on the amount of module still showing pending updates, for sure they didn't update them.

OTAs download during your set update time, provided that the 12V battery level is sufficient for the download to take place (usually >80%). This can be problematic if you have it set to 01:00 since you probably last drove the car around 18:00 and the 12V will have discharged somewhat by then. If you are having issues with this, you should set your update time to 20 or so minutes into your morning or afternoon commute, when your 12V will likely be >80% and the car's DC-DC charging system is engaged. ??

Many people here have checked their router logs and have not seen significant activity going to their cars, so WiFi does not seem to be used for downloading updates to the car, only for reporting information back to Ford. ??

The trigger is still there. Says it's expiring on the 25th. If you start and run the car while it's at home on your wifi maybe that will help. When you see the

symbol at the top of your Sync screen then go hit the Check Updates button to see if it will download then.

I have the best chance of downloading updates while my car is out driving around in an area that has at least three bars of AT&T coverage.

So this morning it does show that the BCM OTA (24-PU0121-FTDI-FX) did in fact process...and you still have the TCU update (23-PU1113-UNX-DC) awaiting download and processing (this the the one and only that requires wifi but is a very small update). You can try starting and running the car at home while the car is still on your house wifi, and then hit the Check Updates button to see if you can get it to update.

The 24P16 program requires a test of your 12V battery, and if found defective, it would have been replaced. On a side note...your 12V battery was replaced back in Feb because it was found to be dead while on the lot. This 24P16 program is still open in PTS for your car but that may be due to internal processes at your dealership not logging the work into the system yet. That may account for the delay. As Javier says if they replaced your 12V battery, or just checked and charged it...we wouldn't necessarily see that in FDRS, and in PTS whatever work they did hasn't been logged into the system yet.

I wish I knew what else to tell you. It's such a small update it's ridiculous, so I don't know why that ones being difficult.
