Ok, this is a crock of ____!

I bought my ‘21 MachE new in March ‘22. I went for the comfort/tech package, because I have a very long daily commute and wanted BC to help with the drive. Actually, I bought a MachE because of Blue Cruise. I’m finding out now that it’s a subscription! Nowhere in any paperwork that I have was that listed, and I have it all including the window sticker. Never even discussed at the time of purchase, or it would have seriously affected my decision to purchase the comfort/tech package, or MachE in general.

I talked to Ford CS and they pretty much said sorry that should’ve been discussed and you should have been aware. I pointed out that it is not discussed anywhere, in anything I had been given. They told me to contact the dealer. The stinking dealer closed their doors!

As far as I’m concerned, Ford sold me a product, then changed it after the purchase. It’s listed as optional equipment purchased with the vehicle with no mention of subscription. They had nav listed as subscription, but not BC!

Fork over $800 a year or just use adaptive cruise control and steering wheel.

Maybe they will lower the price if enough people don’t subscribe to the system.

I definitely won’t be subscribing for $800/yr. Honestly, after that dirty of a move, I don’t think I’ll buy a Ford ever again.

Thank you for posting this. It was a reminder for me to pay for my BlueCruise subscription. I have a '21 Job 1 and 30,000 Reward Points, which gets me in for $150/year plus tax. Plus, I get 4,500 more points for the purchase. This seems about fair to me. Sorry about your disappointment. If you state has a consumer affairs division, maybe they can fight it out for you.

It wasn't a dirty move, you didn't do your homework about BlueCruise at the time of purchase. I'm another disappointed BlueCruise customer:

I didn't do my homework? I did my homework. I spent half of January and the entire month of February 2022 researching and test driving vehicles prior to purchasing my 2021 ME. I read all of the provided literature, yet I read nothing about it being a subscription. The dealer said nothing about it being a subscription. Have you ever purchased a subscription before that didn't clearly state prior to purchase that you were purchasing a trial/subscription? I still have every piece of paper provided, and none of it says anything about a trial/subscription. The window sticker even has Nav listed as a 3yr subscription ("3-YR INC"), but not BC. Why do you suppose there would be that discrepancy.

It absolutely was a dirty move and it should've been disclosed as clearly as the navigation subscription was. It would have cost them nothing extra to simply print "3-YR INC" to BlueCruise, as they did to Navigation. But, no, it's listed as purchased optional equipment, just like hands free lift gate, heated seats, heated steering wheel, etc. Should I worry they shut those functions off too?

Can you tell me why you attached a 45 minute video of a '22 and '23 BC? I'd rather not spend 45 minutes watching it if there is simply a reference point you're trying to use in it.

Haha. Glad I could help.
That’s a good point. I will reach out to Consumer Protection, thanks for the advice.

Very odd. I was aware of the subscription price before I bought my car. I also wasn't interested in BlueCruise at all and wouldn't have paid the $600/3 years that Ford advertised prior to purchasing my car. This is definitely on your dealer. My selling dealer even mentioned the BC subscription when I picked up my car and then told me to "never mind" since my GT-PE isn't hardware-compatible. ?‍♂?

I was going to write a snarky reply to the OP like “sucks to be you,” but actually you are in the same boat as every owner. You either pay the fee or you don’t, your choice, and if it’s a deal breaker to you for owning the car I hear there are great deals to be had on Fiskers.

Most of us were well aware of the fact that the car came with 3 years of BlueCruise included in the purchase price back in 2021. If that was the primary feature that drew you to the Mach-E, then you should have looked into it further.

It is perfectly reasonable to be upset about the bait and switch with the pricing though.

You're better off driving the car yourself anyway.

I'm sure that's not much consolation, and it does not excuse deceptive sales practices. But it is for the best.

I'll see if I can find my original paperwork, but when we bought our first Mach-E in March 2021, we signed a paper that said we pay $500 for 3 years of BlueCruise even though it wasn't available yet. The normal price at the time was going to be $600 but they knocked $100 off because the rollout was delayed. I remember there was a lot of discussion on here about what happens at the 3 year renewal. A lot of people like us were doing the 4 year Options financing. We were wondering if the subscription would be for another 3 years or could we do 1 year for $200.

And then when we bought our second Mach-E in 2022, it very clearly stated that we had 3 years of BlueCruise. It said it is technically a 3 year "trial."

If you view "Connected Services" from either FordPass app or your web browser based account at Ford.com, you will see all the subscriptions your vehicle has.
Bluecruise is far from the only one on most vehicles.
