Yes they are looking into it, will update as I hear more.
Thank you for sticking around and continuing to chat with us. I appreciate some of the stuff you have done that I haven’t seen elsewhere (slip test). Also, while I do enjoy the videos that help me with my confirmation bias, I also greatly appreciate videos that challenge that appropriately.

I really wanted to give it a fair shot so I plugged the Mach E into a fourth station (350kW) and it wouldn't connect to the car :(
Thanks for taking the time to come here and answer our questions; I for one appreciate it very much. It can't be easy getting bombarded with questions from all directions, some of which have an unfriendly tone.

Hey i’ve been called much worse on many other forums ;)

No it’s fun! Certainly I have my opinions, many of you will probably have others but come on, it’s an electric mustang with AWD. This is pretty freakin cool!

Do you think it is the blame lies more on the Mach-E or EA? If EA, would you consider reaching out to them to see if they have an explanation?
With respect to plug and charge, since specs are never precise in all respects, it's usual to have some issues when integrating software developed by different groups. it's inaccurate and a waste of time to assign "blame" to either group because hiccups will naturally be part of the process. It's also naive to believe the integration will be seamless right out of the box.

That said, I'll be disappointed and surprised if issues like these are common when production versions of the MME or the ID.4 are actually on the road. Wouldn't count on things being 100% fine for the first few months but not anything like this reviewer experienced.

The delays in charging on the EvGo stations is more concerning IMO. Ford should have had many opportunities to test public charging that isn't plug and charge.

Without assigning blame, you won't be able to address the problem. If you think it is the car, you can contact Ford and pester them about an update. If you think it is EA, the same. It has been some time since he filmed that video. SO maybe he has visited other EA chargers with no issues. Then you could probably just say it was EA. Or maybe has had the problem in other charging locations. It is all part of the troubleshooting process.

I'm focused on the EA network because that is what I will use way more often.

Yeah I don't expect to use hardly anything but EA for en route road trip DCFC charges. In large part because their chargers are far more consistent and easier to find power/pricing/times. (Something ChargePoint really needs to improve.) Although since that 125 kW ChargePoint in Richfield UT is free, I'll try that one.

Destination chargers are even more frustrating to find info on. It's practically a scavenger hunt trying to plan a trip. I like to have everything pre-planned. I'm not a "just show up and wing it" road tripper. Especially if I take the MME with such limited and crucial chargers along the way.

And of course anywhere close to home I won't need anything but my home charger.

I'm definitely a pre-planner, too. I started looking for destination charging for some potential trips and it is ridiculously hard. Sometimes, "destination charger" means they have a 240V outlet that may or may not be blocked by an ICE vehicle. I was hoping to plan out some visits to National Parks for the summer since I have a free National Parks Pass. I think it is doable, but I am going to have anxious moments for sure.

I've found plugshare quite reliable finding available Level-2's (don't have the adapter for destination chargers and, frankly, never needed one).

That's where the self-justification for the ER battery really came in. An extra 60 miles could make the difference between some destinations being doable in the MME vs "just take the ICE instead".

I will say after a week of driving it I would strongly encourage that you consider a Standard range car. When I drive I try and keep a little book where I record the distance driven every day. I personally average 30 to 40 miles in a day. If you have a place to charge at home, the range even on the SR AWD is more than enough. I'd personally save the change and go for a Standard range for every day driving as 200 miles + on a charge seems realistic from my experience. For road trips where the ER would have the advantage, well, um, let's just say I'm not sure the charging network is quite flushed out for the majority of folks. So save the dough!!!
Have you considered that the range of the SR version will probably reduce over time and thus you wont eventually get that initial range you're counting on?

This is an interesting point. I'm hoping that, much like other EV's on the market, the batter degradation is very minimal. As JayTee said it does have a big buffer, and it is much more sophisticated than the early leafs that suffer major range loss. In fact many of those now need a SUPER long extension cord to be driven ;)
