I wanted to post my experience with my HV Battery. As you can see from the pic below, I use the full range of the battery. My MME is a 2021 Standard Range. I purchased in Sept. 2021
It has been almost 3 years and I have basically charged starting at 0-10% up to 100% every day for 3 years.
Most of my charges are done using level 2, but I have a moderate amount of DCFC sessions.
While I don't have an ODBC to check battery SOH, I have done something else.
I use waypoints on my drive home. There are 2 exits on the freeway that I always check my batt % when I pass them. Since Sept. 2021 the numbers have not changed.
The below numbers are depending on speed i.e. if there isn't much traffic I can drive 80-85MPH and it uses an extra 1 or 2%, but if I drive slower it will use 1-2% less
At the first waypoint my SOC is at 90% +or-2,
when I get to the 2nd waypoint, my SOC is at 75% +or-2
and when I get home my SOC is at 60% +or-2
I have had the same results now for 3 years. The winter is a different story, these are summer #'s
Some people have asked if it is linear, i.e. if I start out at a different %. And it is very linear, a couple times a year if I have to leave early my charge might only be 70-80% and the numbers are still the same i.e. 10% used at the first exit, 25% used at the 2nd exit and 40% used when I get home.
Going to work in the morning I use about 50% because there is less traffic and I can drive 80-85MPH almost the entire trip.
I see all these people that say keep your SOC between 80-20, but my experience so far has shown no issue with using the absolute full range of the battery.
I have probably charged to 100% 780 times in 3 years
Of course, the car does not sit at 100% very long and I plug in right when I get to work so it doesn't sit below 20% very long
You can also see I have over 118,000 miles on the car.
