Can you turn an MME off?

The MME behaves like an iPhone on wheels since it’s always connected to the IoT. That’s the Internet of Things.
If I want, I can turn my iPhone off by holding the power button and swiping the off switch on the screen.
Is there anyway to do the same to my MME and if not, should there be?
welllllll, depending what you want to turn off, I'd say yes, but not easily.
1. you *could* add a 12v cutoff switch, but then you'd have no way in if the vehicle was locked and hood was latched other than the exterior hood-pop with external 12v

2. you *could* pull the HV disconnect relay AND add 12v disconnect for truly long-term storage, but that's probably not what you are after. ?

3. you *could* pop off the side interior panel covering the modem, and add a switch to de-power just the modem, and turn it back on if you wanted to re-connect to Ford Mother-ship for any 'connected services or OTA'.....

Honestly I have doubts that the iPhone is actually off when you turn it off. Since iOS 15, you are able to track the location of the iPhone even if the phone is off (if you configure this functionality in the Find My settings). And if that functionality works when the phone is “off”, there are likely other things that are happening when it’s off.
You are correct.

If you wrap the whole car in aluminum foil I think it will accomplish what you’re looking for.

May be easier to just wrap your head in foil though. ?‍♂
Actually, I think it's part of the way there as isn't the bonnet/hood and the front wings made of aluminium? (UK English spelling by the way before anyone moans) ;)

Or just pull the TCU fuse. That would effectively kill any connected services… ??

and where exactly is the TCU fuse ?
Footwell fuse box #11 & 12. It would also kill the liftgate, alarm, b-pillar keypad, and both driver door activation switches. ?‍♂?

Probably better to Unplug the TCU?
I dunno. Since the question originally posed was whether one could turn the car “off” a few extra modules doesn’t seem to extreme. Addit, there is much more involved in unplugging and reconnecting the TCU than there is to pulling a fuse on the right side of the car. ??

Yeah, I don't know exactly where Ford stuffed it in the Mach-E. I haven't ever looked at the diagrams. But in the F150, it's rather easy to access behind the rear passenger seat. Mounted right on the cab wall. So those miffed with OTAs just yank one of the two harnesses to it.

All cars with a remote keyfob have a sleep mode and so are nver truly "off" if they were truly "off" then your remote keyfob wouldn't work when you pressed the button. You need to get a car where you unlock it by inserting the key in the lock. Even then, the radio is fed by the 12v battery when "off" to keep the radio stations stored, so no car built in the last 20 years is truly "off". Just don't worry about it.

hhhmmmm, well that's not a real option then if all you wanna turn off is the modem.
