Thanks for checking, Javier
Yeah, hopefully they're just sorting out their personnel issue and will get back to finishing what they were supposed to be doing soon.

Check back with us when they say they're ready and we'll take a look (if online at that point).

Greetings,

I’ve been trying to learn a little bit on the software update side of things for these vehicles especially seeing the recent ford pass update for advance climate control and some android auto updates.

I have a job 1 ‘21 that i became the second owner of over the summer. It seemed like it had gotten most of the updates up to that point but I haven’t seen anything since taking ownership.

How does the pending update list compare to other ‘21s? Do things seem to be functioning well? Any recommendations at this time?

My VIN is: 3FMTK3SU4MMA36961
This is the available software list from FDRS this morning:

This is very typical for a '21 model.

You have an open FSA (23B50) that would geet the powertrain modules updated for free by a dealer tech (that's the PCM, ABS, BECM, SOBDM, SOBDMC).

Ford are just not sending out OTAs to '21 models at this point.

As for 'required'....well there is an open FSA (23B50) that will update the powertrain items in this list and the dealer tech (if you're buying from a Ford dealership) is required to apply those updates prior to selling you the car. So that would be the PCM, ABS, BECM, SOBDM, and SOBDMC in this list.

While they are all up in there, it would be great to knock out the rest of the list while they're already connected with the laptop and powersupply (as maybe a condition of the sale?). You can check back here with us after they say they've done the work for confirmation if you like.

Oh, and right now the TCU (telematics modem) is showing as 'Not authorized' which means the car is not reporting it's status to the cloud, because the dealership hasn't gone into the Sync menus and done a 'Master Reset' to remove the previous owner's settings. You won't get any new OTA updates or get FordPass to work until that reset is performed.

info @rugedraw
Just spoke to the service advisor (1:30 pm Eastern) who tells me that every module that was available in FDRS has been updated and the car is ready to go. He started to tell me that maybe it takes a while for the updates to take on the car and show in the cloud...
I want to be sure at least the ones associated with the HVBJB recall are done, but would like it if they are all really done. Told the service advisor I'd get back to him.
Would appreciate a check.
Thanks!

They didn't do a damn thing. So just lie to them like they are lying to you. Tell them your cousin works for a dealer who looked up the vehicle history and it shows the PCM update that was part of the recall failed and it is still pending. Ask to speak to the service manager; not the advisor. Remember you catch more flies with honey than shit.

Thanks, Javier. Talked to the advisor and the service director. Told them didn't want to be a PITA, but wanted the work done right for my sake and theirs. They stated that they will check and get back to me. They wanted to know what system(s) my cousin was looking at for the info. I told them I'd heard some acronyms like PTS and FDRS.

Hi There, can you please check my VIN 3FMTK3SU6NMA03803

I recently has Knee Surgery (TKR). All I can say is "PROTECT YOUR KNEES". This surgery and recovery are no joke.

My 22 an OTA update since August 2023, like so many others. So I pulled the trigger.

Just before it, I bought a power supply, Mongoose cable and I (think) I updated my entire ME. For 8 weeks (could not drive) I kept it on a 12v trickle charger to make sure the LVB was fully charged. (0% drain on the HVB over the 8 weeks...I did turn on the car and shut it off several times to take it out of sleep mode). During the 8 weeks, no updates. When I started driving, the on-screen said I got an update, 23-PU1113-unx-dc. Now for 4 weeks...nothing.

So I want to see how behind I am (don't want to pay for another 2 day pass for no reason) and I want to see if there is anything I can do to push the dealership or Ford to do about my lack of updates. I need to go in for the paint sealant issue (1 door is infected) and I need my tires rotated. Any suggestions here on how to push the dealer would be helpful.

Also a check on my VIN would also be great, Thanks everyone.

Apparently, this dealership is not aware that everything a tech does in FDRS is visible as a history session for anybody with FDRS to see.

Although there can be some exceptions (communications issues or issues with FDRS) everything is logged, and any updates performed are shown in the session logs, and normally the update listed in the available software table is removed immediately after the update is performed (again with some exceptions for faulty update packaging).

This would not be the first service advisor or tech to suddenly realize that other people can see what they did or did not do. And the mistakes they made, if any.

Just the PCM and ABS we all got recently. That's it.
