Wish you could have seen the Tesla fanboys at the SuperCharger yesterday when I pulled up in my Mach-E, plugged in my adapter, and then plugged in the charging cable. You could have heard a pin drop when that charger clicked and the charging session kicked off. Two of those guys about had to pick their jaws up off the floor. One said, "Man, did I just see that?" It was just as easy as charging my Tesla. I just smiled and said, "Yeah. I had two Teslas before the Mustang." Now we're even.

And everyone clapped!?

Man, I am doing charging stops all wrong. I barely look at who is around me except to try and get a charger unlikely to be load shared and try to get a 150 so others can use the 350. I then just plug in and go do something else.

I’ve only had positive interactions at superchargers with Tesla owners. I was one of the lucky ones who got their adapter order in very early and got it in May. Every time I have stopped at a supercharger and talked to anyone, they are excited to see my car charging there and many have told me that I’ve been the first non-Tesla they’ve seen. Never had a negative experience.

Sounds like part of the plot to a 80s movie…..and I love me some 80s movies ?. Any way, I too charged at a Supercharger at the end of Aug. A Tesla pulls up next to me and starts charging. The guy got out of his car and came over to me and said, “How often do you charge at a supercharger”? That’s my SC story.

That's nothing. When I plug in at the Supercharger I'm striking poses while snapping and popping the adapter and cable in place like Andrew Dice Clay lighting a cigarette.
Hickory, dicory, doc...
The cable looked like my... Hey-yo! ??

Interesting, I've also had an early adapter and SC'd a handful of times 75% of the time the Tesla people don't even look up from their phones (maybe a generation thing) and the other 25% I get the weird "stare of dislike". I find the non-tesla people at let's say an EA station much more "talkative".

I wonder how much of that is down to just a more "EV mature" audience, so not their personal maturity, but many of them may have been with Teslas for years and using an SC is as common as me getting gas for the truck. I don't walk around talking to everyone there either.

While Ford and others have been in the EV game for a while, in terms of DCFC Ford has only had capable vehicles for about 7 years, and only three of those have been with a true mass market vehicle (the MME or Lightning).

Tesla has been doing the SuperCharger thing for about 12 years. I don't doubt that there's a good number of owners at those stations that have been with them for at least 3-4 years on average.

It surprises me that are Tesla users (fanboys), that they don’t know what other EV brands can use their SC stations. On that subject also, I wonder when Rivian will open their Charging Network to Ford EVs and consequently Tesla customers also.

Rivian has said repeatedly that they will open their network, small though it maybe, later this year to all EVs.

See I wouldn’t know if they are looking at their phone or staring. Because I plug in and go eat, or play tiles.

But I guess I need to stare at them to see how they are looking at me. Maybe get a nice slow clap for being able to plug my vehicle in.
