This is one of the dumbest things I’ve seen on this forum. Pushing the P(arking) on a vehicle with out parking assist does not do anything more than showing parking locations on the main screen.

1. Park Assist only works when there are cars to park between.
2. It backs into spots. It never pulls forward into spots.
3. Park assist was discontinued after the 2021 model year.

Trolling or you had the car in reverse and stepped on the gas. Either way, try harder.
Yea I don’t see why I would take time out to troll on this forum, especially to talk individuals like yourself. It seems as though I might have a manufacturer defect since a lot of these replies on this forum find this unbelievable. Thanks for the confirmation.

when I ordered it was ‘22 but then after months of waiting they converted to ‘23. So I have a ‘23.
Then you never had Park Assist. Some 2022 models produced before May of 2022 have it (like mine), but if you ordered a car after a certain date in March of 2022, Park Assist was dropped and instead you got a prep-kit and a $325 reduction in MSRP.

I have a 2023.5 Mach-E
And a 2022.5 F150

Both are missing the infamous 50¢ chip in the IPMA.
(you can purchase a 2021 IPMA on Ebay and enable Park Assist)

With the chip missing, both vehicles bring up a Parking Garage search tool, which I find kinda funny.

And both vehicles, if I put them in reverse, hit the Park Assist button and then let off the brake, will start rolling in reverse. But I don't think the PSCM is even attempting to steer the vehicle since the necessary data stream doesn't have the processing chip to process the data stream.

I might mistake the reverse rolling as the vehicle attempting to assist me at parking, but it isn't. I am a little surprised that the collision sensors weren't beeping a warning as the vehicle closed in on an obstacle.

Both my vehicles will emit a solid tone with an accompanying RED alert on the camera view, as I get close to an obstacle like a pole or wall.

Park assist was discontinued in early 2022. A small handful of cars had it included (if they were of the appropriate trim line or had the proper option package). My condolences if yours has it. It stinks only very slightly less than the version on my Tesla. Everyone else got a discount on their purchase for not having it.

In any event, the OP has a 2023 Select (it’s in the thread title). They could be coming up on 2 years if they purchased the car in very early 2023. To get active park assist on this car would require two things: the technology package and a Delorean with a Mr. Fusion. 2023s never had the feature.

The op is either trolling, poorly, or randomly pushing buttons in a mistaken belief that the car will do something it won’t, and can’t, do.
Early 2022? More like late April or early May of 2022. Last day to order a Mach-E with Active Park Assist was March 17th. Cars ordered then didn't get scheduled for production until late April or early May. Indication is that it got dropped from Job 2 cars. Basically, if you had a Job 1 car, it came with it.

No I was on a completely flat and open parking lot and I had the brake (hold) feature on my car, so it was stationed securely and upon pressing the button it moved automatically.
So you didn't have your foot on the brake pedal when you pushed the button.

Looking at post history it was a late December 2022 delivery.
So no matter what, their car never came with Park Assist, whether it was a 2022 built in the last two months of the year, or a 2023 built in the last two months of the year.

Hi! So, i have owned my 2023 Mustang Mach E for almost 2 years now. I absolutely LOVE IT but I recently got into an issue this week.
On a Monday evening, in an empty parking lot, where all my car had to do was move forward to park itself, and behind me was two poles with a chain and a crossed section on the floor that marks pretty much no parking, my friends asked if my car parked itself. I said, "I think so, here's a button for it, I've never pressed it, should I try it?"
"YES!!" So, I just pressed the button once (not holding it down) and my car started moving fairly swiftly backwards by the two poles and crashed into them and the chained fence and made a huge crash sound and I slammed on my brake so fast. I was so confused since my car has all of the sensors in the world and I got scratches and dents on my bumper and passenger door from the chains. My car didn't make any warning, or stop or sound that it was backing into something. I've done more research and found that the 2023 does not have park assist, but definitely that button on my car states otherwise because it didn't give me any option to move anywhere. It just started moving. I called the Ford Customer Relations number and they advised to take it to the Ford Dealership and they will have to run a diagnositc. They have ran it for about 2 - 3 days now and extended my loaner. I took it in on Wednesday. My issue is, is that when they called me Friday, they said my car is good to go, they didn't find anything wrong. I asked what do I do from here because these dents and scratches was due to my car moving swiftly by itself and seeming the cars sensors does not work with this feature and the service advisor told me my car does not have park assist and i said then what is that button in the middle i pressed marked "P" and made my car move then? He went to check and finally found the button I mentioned after much advisement on where to find it and my car is still in the dealership running more tests. Can anyone please help me as to what I should state to them? I feel like its really unfair for me having to pay to get my scratches and dent fixed when my car has a button advised to park assist and completely moved automatically and scraped and scratched my car.
If your car is equipped with Active Parking Assist, did you follow the instructions in the manual? For a 2023 Mach E, it is found on pages 232-

WHAT IS ACTIVE PARK ASSIST
Assists you with parking in and out of parking spaces.
HOW DOES ACTIVE PARK ASSIST WORK
Active park assist uses sensors to detect parking spaces. The system steers, accelerates, brakes and shifts gears as necessary to maneuver into or out of a parking space.
ACTIVE PARK ASSIST PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: You must remain in your vehicle when the system turns on. At all times, you are responsible for controlling your vehicle, supervising the system and intervening, if required. Failure to take care may result in the loss of control of your vehicle, serious personal injury or death.
WARNING: The sensors may not detect objects in heavy rain or other conditions that cause interference.
WARNING: You are responsible for controlling your vehicle at all times. The system is designed to be an aid and does not relieve you of your responsibility to drive with due care and attention. Failure to follow this instruction could result in the loss of control of your vehicle, personal injury or death.
WARNING: Do not use the system with accessories that extend beyond the front or rear of your vehicle, for example a trailer hitch or bike rack. The system is not able to make corrections for the additional length of the accessories.
SWITCHING ACTIVE PARK ASSIST ON AND OFF
Press the parking aid button, then press the active park assist icon on the touchscreen to bring
up full screen notifications.
Press the soft keys on the touchscreen to switch between the parallel park in, perpendicular park in, or parallel park out parking modes.
Cancelling Active Park Assist

Note: The system detects other vehicles and curbs to find a parking space.
2. Press the active park assist icon on the touchscreen.
3. Use the turn signal lever to search for a parking space on the driver or passenger side of your vehicle.
Note: If you do not use the turn signal lever, the system searches for a parking space on the passenger side of your vehicle.
4. Drive your vehicle approximately 3 ft (1 m) away from and parallel to the other parked vehicles when searching for a parking space.
Note: A tone sounds and a message appears in the information and entertainment display when active park assist finds a suitable parking space.
  1. Press and hold the brake pedal.
  2. Release the steering wheel and shift into neutral (N).
  3. Press and hold the parking aid button.
  4. Release the brake pedal to allow your vehicle to park.
Note: You can slow down your vehicle at any time by pressing the brake pedal.

Unless the op has an early 22 model (or 2021) with the tech package, they don’t have active park assist. If they do have such a feature, they didn’t follow the convoluted instructions to use it as aptly quoted by @ChasingCoral. It’s all moot anyway as by their own admission they have a 2023 Select.

A tough lesson to learn. Active park assist sucks anyway. I haven’t used it in well over 2 years.
