So it was time to get new boots as I was at 71K miles on the original Contis. Yes you read that right, the original tires. I may have pushed the limit but definitely needed new tires as winter approaches.

After looking around, I chose the new Scorpion AS+ Elect. Just did it so it will take some time to see if there is any range change, which will be difficult to properly gauge as temps drop in the Midwest. For the most part, I do not care, but will watch to see if noticeable.

To note, I went from 245's to 255's and have 15mm spacers on my car as I wanted it to go flush with the body. I also have the car with the Eibach sway bars and lowering springs. My drive to work this morning (25 miles highway miles) felt smooth and quiet, and I do like the aggressive look of the tires.

I switched to those ties in the OEM size about two months ago. I could not see an appreciable difference over the Conti's in either noise, range or grip. I might possibly see some difference if comparing a new tire to a new tire. Very happy with them though. 40,000 out of the Conti's.

Are you wheels, painted, stickers or something else?

All the chrome areas I vinyl-wrapped. I thought with the dark matter gray it would look better to carry the two-tone look on the wheels and have them gray and black. Changed the center caps to black too.

How's the noise level? I had Scorpions on my XC-90 and they sounded like I was driving a F-250 with a lift kit and tractor tires. I appreciate it's not at all the same tire, but curious none the less.

I have not noticed them (which is a good thing) in regards to noise. I picked them after reviewing a bunch of tires and wanting a good All Season tire for midwest weather.

A few reasons I picked them (pulled from their website because I am lazy):
  • The ELECT™ marking on the sidewall identifies Pirelli tires specifically developed for high performance electric and plug-in vehicles which focus on EV factors like durability, torque, car weight, battery range and noise
  • Exceptional wet weather performance
  • Confident handling
  • Wet & snow traction improvements
  • Quiet comfortable ride
  • Longevity & excellent grip
  • Engineered for hybrid and electric vehicles

How's it been holding up?
Did you or a shop do it?

It made it through last winter just fine.

Did it myself. I have extra so if it goes bad or gets curb rash, I can just replace and looks like new.

First time take a a while to get it right. But now, super easy to fix when there is a scape and you only have to do the section that went bad. Not the whole wheel.

I just put the exact same similar tires on my GTPE (so I'm coming from OEM Pirelli P Zero summer tires.) I’m very happy them except I did prefer the less intense tread pattern of the P Zeros. Wider looks better though.

I also have the Eibach sway bars and springs. Performance of these tires has been great. Unlike the P Zeros I get full traction with WOT from stop, even now that it's getting a little colder. I do feel like there was a very slight loss in steering precision, but not enough to really notice unless I am concentrating on it. Cornering at speed feels very stable. Overall slightly more comfortable/cushioned ride on rough roads. I would not say they are "loud," but they are louder than the P Zeros and have a different sound to them; it's more of a deeper rumble sound. I am looking forward to the much longer tread life.

Have the same lowered springs and sway bars on my GT, thinking of installing the spacers as well. Where did you buy the spacers and did you cut the studs or replaced them with extended studs?

So I went with Bonoss 15mm. I originally boughtthem from Eibach but had weird compatibility issues when checking for fitment. The bolts provided were not quite right. eibach was great in trying to work it out, but in the end the bonoss worked better for me.

I had to have the original bolts trimmed because they protruded too much through the spacers into the wheels. 20mm you might get away with, as the additional thickness leaves just a bit that may come through. I chose 15mm because of the slightly wider tires I chose seemed to get me where I wanted.

If I ever change wheels, I will need to buy new bolts most likely.
