If it had gone through, it would have been:

You do know of course that Ford has been notorious in the past for 'recycling' their update notes from previous updates, and those notes quite often have nothing to do with what the update was about? So take those notes with a grain of salt.

@Mike G My car received an alert today for a powertrain malfunction. This is the second time in two weeks both requiring a tow to the dealership. The first dealership said the problem was only that some modules needed updates. They reported to update them but the same fault occurred today and is in the process of being towed to a different dealership (wife was out of town for doctor's appointment). Any light you can shed on the failure?

Generally speaking, the dealer will not perform updates if there isn't a compelling reason to do them. They have to justify the labor cost to Ford. So there would have to be a TSB, SSM, or a FSA that dictates that if the customer brings in the car for some concern, and there is a software update that would address that concern, then the tech can apply that and get paid under warranty labor for doing it. Another good time to get these updates done is if your car is in for a 'recall' and it requires programming, then the service advisor/tech might be persuaded to update more than what the FSA calls for.
Got it. Thanks.

Relevant DTCs are for the rear motor and involve the parking pawl circuit.
SOBDMC P07E6:00Stuck in Park: No Sub Type InformationThis DTC indicates the park pawl motor cannot disengage P .
SOBDMC P0886:00TCM Power Relay Control Circuit Low: No Sub Type InformationThis DTC sets when a short to ground is detected on the relay control circuit.

Wiring or a connector are the suggested clues as to where to look.

Much appreciated. The tow truck operator could not get in into neutral and has left the car. Talking to dealership to find out if they have suggestions for picking it up.

Nope - they seem to be like hen teeth around here. Even if he had them I am somewhat doubtful he would have gone to that effort to get it on dollies. He seemed more interested in giving up and after waiting nearly four hours for a driver to show up it seems as though they were looking for the easier jobs. BTW - this was a Ford Roadside assistance chosen company.

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar. Thank you for this!
finally got it to the dealer who claims to have completed all the updates so was curious if you could check it again by chance? feel like this would be a good way to check their integrity if that makes sense. i suspect they manually updated the failed update and are now relying on OTAs. havent gotten the car back yet due to distance. no worries if you dont have time or do not see this ask cause i know i am being greedy :)

You have a 'Notification of Pending Update" for the TCU modem this morning that should download whenever the car is driven next. That would be OTA Ford Power-Up 6.3.0. And is the same TCU update in this list below. One has to wonder whey they didn't update your OBCC module so that you could charge at Tesla Superchargers while they were connected and doing other things. Would have taken only an extra 5 minutes tops.

Can someone run my VIN for me? I continue to have issues with Wireless Carplay and I won't even bother going to the dealer unless I know there is a pending update.

Thanks!

Your car is on the latest APIM update available already. Ford is aware of the issue and there is an update coming to address it, but no way of knowing when it will actually be released.

Anything else that needs to be installed?

Hey all, considering purchase of 3FMTK3SU8NMA37922. Appears not to have any open recalls per Ford's VIN look up, but I'm curious how far behind it is on updates. Any assistance much appreciated!
