Mach E
am in the process of buying a 2024 Premium extended range, RWD Mach E... had been renting one, our first experience with an EV, and we really liked it... long term rental is VERY expensive, needed to buy a vehicle... knew I didn't want a Tesla, decided on the Mach E... found one at a Ford Dealership not far from where we live, in Florida... got 0% interest and some decent discounts...

So now for the question - what will my Mach E do 0-60mph? I have found in a google search 5.2? I didn't realize that the AWD model (which I wanted but wasn't available at the dealers I visited) gets to 60 faster... and I was figuring 3.something - guess I read that for a GT or Rally model... but 5.2 will be plenty fast for our needs...

I bought an AWD extended about 6 weeks ago. Now have about 2500 miles. I wouldn’t have bought the AWD if I didn’t live in snow country. The accelerator has been on the floor probably for an accumulated total of less than 10 seconds. Most of that was simply to impress passengers. In my IC vehicles, I use WOT often and for somewhat extended periods. But these EVs are stupid fast. I love it, but it isn’t something you can do and keep the right to drive. JMHO. YMMV.

The MachE we are renting is extended range, Premium, AWD... have floored it 2 times, didn't get to 60, backed off, was too scary for me (guess too old for cheap thrills that can be dangerous and/or attract police attention)... but still, nice to know that can get going fast if needed... a long long time ago I had a 1977 VW Scirocco, bought it new... and I was on the highway and floored the accelerator, and not much happened... was a way too underpowered (1.6 L 4 cylinder) slightly sporty ride (could have added a turbo and that would have improved the acceleration, no doubt)... VERY happy the MachE isn't way too slow like the Scirocco was...

also, I remember (a LONG time ago) when a Porsche Turbo 0-60, 7 seconds was considered blazing fast!!

A RWD may have more torque than traction, the wheels may loose traction and just spin with WOT. This is just a guess, just a slight amount of dampness may result in all 4 wheels spinning on the AWD. I wonder if the Rally has improved on the traction or not, considering it has the CC2s.

With AWD you have two motors. One for front and one for the rear. Hence more horsepower and torque. Not to mention better traction off the line.

The 2024 got a performance bump. Premium Ext Range AWD 0-60 in 4.1 for the '24 model year. Same config but RWD is 5.2

My 84 Rabbit GTI was a bit faster, with the 1.8L mill, and my 1986 self sure thought I was tearing up some pavement on those 0-60 runs of (checks internet) 10 brisk seconds. 2024 me has only floored our Mach-E a half-dozen times, mostly to impress friends. An absolute kick in the pants. What a difference 40 years makes, eh?

The first time I put the pedal to the metal with the MME was a couple of days after picking it up. We were giving another couple a ride so 4 adults on board. From about 20 mph I just gently pushed the go pedal and got one lady screaming in the back seat. A bit later I did it again and she asked to not do it again or she was going to puke ?. I think the acceleration is more shocking because there is no accompanying noise.
51 years ago my buddy drove my bride and myself from the church to the reception in his 57 chebbie 13 second drag car. Long time between but it felt about the same as when he dropped the hammer from a standing start.

Went from a Ford Fusion to the MME Rally. Merging onto the Interstate was frequently a WOT event for a good distance. Accelerating to pass, particularly on 2-lane road was frequently a WOT event. I have been pedel flat to the floor once, on pavement. Wheel slip on all four tires until traction control caught up. Very quickly up to more speed than I wanted on that road. Several times, I have accelerated hard to pass. Never flattened the pedel, but you still get slight auditory input from the tires, and the other car is in the rear view. The response is immediate and effortless.

The Cross Climate 2's are not performance tires. For what they are designed for, they are great. If I wanted to race this car on pavement, I would get a better solution.

I have the 2024 mme premium. The 4.1 is pretty accurate. This baby flies. No issues with acceleration. If you floor it with passengers in the car, give them a warning; it’ll throw them back.

The Ford claim for the 2021 Premium AWD ER was 4.8s with 1 foot rollout.

In 2021, the best I ever got was 5.56 (1 ft) / 6.16.

In 2024, I did better with 5.0 / 5.25.

Temperature was in the 70s for both of those. I had better tires on the car in 2024, though. ?

I have the 2024 Premium AWD ext and yes, when I floor it from a stop in ā€˜Ubridled’ mode (something I too only do to impress passengers), I warn them first, as it will slam their heads back if not braced for it. I believe the 4.1 second number. Years ago I had a first-gen Cadillac CTS-V, and I believe my Mach-E would easily outrun it, at least up to some point (that car had a top speed of 164 mph). I drive almost exclusively in Whisper mode and even that exceeds my day-to-day driving needs.
