Sure, but why and why can't the car recognize one all of a sudden and not the other.
The wonders of technology

Having 2 connections is not unheard of. My solar system apparently has 2 wifi connections, and half of the production reporting system became intermittent and then stopped working. After much troubleshooting I found the wifi was good enough for one connection, but not the other. Not exactly the same, but same kind of head-scratching about why does part of it work fine and other fail.

I find I sleep better if I just give up and accept these oddities...

What's wild to me is that I think PAAK works on a Bluetooth connection, and I still have wireless Android Auto and my phone connects for phone calls and texts through Bluetooth, but when I try to re-establish my backup start code (after Ford support told me to delete my PAAK profile in the car and FordPass app), it can't establish a Bluetooth connection.
PAAK uses Bluetooth Low Energy, and is controlled directly by Fordpass and not the OS Bluetooth connections.

Android Auto and other infotainment connections use standard Bluetooth and is not affected by this issue.

Anyone else with issues recently? Samsung S24 Ultra. All permissions are granted, it just decided it doesn't want to work anymore. I've tried deleting the phone from the app and reinstalling but no luck.

Anyone got any guesses on how to fix this or a work around? I really don't want to start carrying around my keys again after not having done so for so long.

@Ford Motor Company
I've long stopped using PAAK on my galaxy 23U/24U it was unreliable and I would need to launch the app and manually unlock the car and then often times the car also wont start. Now I bring the fob with me.
I assume you can reset and remove your paaks and re-enroll them?

I'm in IT and have been with the same company for 24 years. I can literally expense any device/equipment that I desire with 0 oversight.

Yet, and much to the dismay of those that know I can, I carry a Samsung Galaxy 21FE.

As for PAAK, it's been rather brilliant since I purchased my GTPE ~9 months ago. I admit that sometimes, if my hands are full and I approach the car, I have to turn my left butt cheak towards the car in an eloquent pirouette, if I notice the white ring of welcome has not lit up.

I've enjoyed explaining the dance move on occasion when a witness might be curious. ?

We are aware of issues that customers with certain Android devices are having with using Phone-As-A-Key (PaaK) function to start their vehicle, after a recent mobile operating system software update. While we work to resolve the issue with our technology partners, we recommend customers utilize their key fobs, Securicode keypad or PaaK to lock or unlock their doors, frunk or trunk. To start the vehicle, the key fob or Backup Passcode will be required. If you don’t have a Backup Passcode, learn how to set up here. If you already have a Backup Passcode enabled, please do not delete the PaaK Device Keys in the FordPass app, or conduct a reset of PaaK as either will revoke your vehicle access.
It is good to know that Ford works "to resolve the issue with our technology partners". Meanwhile, the car is asking to enter the passcode, but doesn't display the keyboard to do so. It's not the first time, it happened before, and fixed itself after the car took a nap, but it makes it very unreliable for a daily use.

The fob it is :(

I actually have been using paak 99% of the time since I've had this car. In the last year it's pretty much "just worked" and I've moved through several iterations of galaxy phones with the same results.

I know not everyone is going to get the exact same experience but it's gotten a lot better than it used to be for sure.

I've had to come back in the house to get my fob every single time I've went to the car since this has broke. I don't miss that fob at all haha.

I have fold 5 and it stopped working. Reset paak and set it up again and worked like 30 sec. My wife has S24 plus and it seems like it works okay...

That's part of my problem...supposedly my phone becomes a PAAK in the process and it finds it as a "required device", but after typing in my backup passcode, it fails saying it finds no "required device."

You have to do everything within 30 seconds, which has been impossible for me to do as well.

I'll just have to be patient.

This happened to me for first time in 3+ years last week. Thinking it was tied to the BC 1.3 update the car was apparently downloading.

Agreed. When it becomes a PAAK, the BT icon on "Controls" is bolded...then 30 seconds later (too fast for me to type password too) you see the BT i

No, I've had BC 1.3 for awhile without issuesissues

My phone is a key - in the sense that it will do the unlock/lock/start using the buttons on main window in Ford Pass. BT is always dimmed...so none of the Controls (windows up/down, frunk, rear hatch) don't work. I decided to try and setup a PAAK and backup password within the 30 seconds. Using a very simple password, I got it to save my backup password - but the phone as a key (in the sense of using it to drive and not the fob) is still unoperationable. However, at lease now I have SOME sort of way of starting the car if I need my fob and need to drive somewhere to get it.

You can also reboot the phone while you're setting backup code up. Just needs to be working while code is authorizing. That said, if you're on the forum looking for a solution BEFORE you've deleted PaaK, that will certainly be easier than trying to add it back while the security patch is interfering with the connection.

I've successfully used PAAK with my Samsung S23U since buying the 2023 Mach-e a year ago. Worked perfectly until at least 1 PM today (12/17/2024). But I needed to use the key fob around 5 PM. Same symptom as other posts.. phone keeps searching to connect.
I DID check for and installed a Samsung update on my S23U.
And pretty sure it was during the time that the failure occurred.
Thanks to this thread, I'll wait for a fix, rather than spend time troubleshooting.

My iPhone 10XR has the same issue after the recent OTA update.
