I've had those PT updates available for a little over a week now. Still haven't heard any info at all on what they do.

I have an open issue that is supposed to be fixed in a future Powertrain update but no idea when it's coming.

I know. Since powertrain updates come out roughly 4-5 times a year, it's hard to not want to do them right when they come out to find out if miraculously something like the 5 second limit has now been removed. Eternally optimistic, I guess.
Well, I got around the 5-second limit and got 360 cameras to boot. It only took trading my car in on a newer one. ??

I did all of them day of release earlier this week, I think Monday. No noticeable changes. Other than my post yesterday or the day before about finally having climate control available now via the app.

A bit off-topic...but I have to say this is my favorite TSB of 2024.

TSB 24-2012 is great because it applies to all '21-'23 cars and since we all still get the uncommanded drive mode switching from time to time it can be used to get your GWM, APIM, TCU, IPC updated, and in some cases the IPMA as well. And the tech gets 'Actual time' for doing the job. So that's another win-win.

And the tech gets 'Actual time' for doing the job. So that's another win-win.
If none of those modules show updates available in FDRS, is there any point in having this done?

They can't update anything that's already updated. You could just keep that TSB handy later on when more updates are released if you need a tech to update them.

They can't update anything that's already updated. You could just keep that TSB handy later on when more updates are released if you need a tech to update them.

My 2024 switches to Engage sometimes when I fire it up. I think we need this too. LOL. ?‍♂?

Just joking... Be ready to have your 2021-2023s do this like my 2024 does. ??

I haven’t driven my 2021 for a month cause it’s in the shop getting recalls done. I totally forgot to tell them about that one time that it did the thing whatever this TSB is about. Phone call to the dealer tomorrow, because I’m going to find work for you if you’re going to keep my car for a fooling month on a three day job. Umm I mean it did that thing.

I did the GWM and the Powertrain updates yesterday. Today I have climate controls in fordpass.

I’ve had it on iOS for about 2 months now, even before this latest GWM update. Seems to me like it’s more so a server side toggle. I guess this new GWM update triggers it on if it wasn’t before.

I discontinued my yearly FDRS license given how updates are currently slow. Thursday I decided to try out the 2 day license. I updated FDRS to the current version. I had no trouble getting the license and logging into FDRS.

I had no trouble with the powertrain updates (I now have the updated climate controls in Fordpass). I did have problems with the GWM, mainly because the USB SSD I was using was not being recognized, i.e. Charging Only message when I plugged it in. I decided to use the OBD method realizing that it would take awhile. I left it to have supper and came back to a powered off laptop. It almost made it all the way through, but my laptop ran out of battery due to me powering it using the car's DC power point. It seemed to pick up where it left off, but then the laptop decided to do a windows update and it wiped out the retry.

So the car was in a bad state and I decided to leave it there. I made a point to find another USB flash drive that worked and I was able to go through the USB update procedure, get pass for the file checks, and clear the DTCs. However the center display kept displaying the updating in process do not remove USB message. I tried turning the car off and opening the door, but it did not work.

I decided to let the car sit and tackle it in the morning. This morning I turn on the car and it was fine. The long-term power down must have reset things. I learnt two lessons. Always have a USB flash drive that works and get a multiple outlet tap for my extension cord so I can plug the laptop into shore power.

There were no additional updates so I will have to likely wait for the upcoming OTA for MY 2021.
