Does someone have a Curt MME hitch installed, looking to verfy and how did you wire the lights?

For the last year I have been going back and forth of installing a hitch on my mach e even with ford saying not to tow with the mach E. I need a tow hitch for bikes and a small trailer I own. I found some pictures of a Curt 2000Lb hitch installed on a MME and I like how tucked the hitch is but I wanted to verify if the pictures are true or is it just the angle of the pictures that make it look that way.

Also how did you wireup the lights? My little trailer has two small LEDs that dont use lots of current.

I have that hitch and the picture you posted is accurate -the hitch does tuck in nicely. I only use it for bike racks and hitch mount T-bar in conjunction with a Thule roof racks for my 14-16 foot kayaks. So I don’t have wiring installed (yet) as I haven’t decided if I’ll use my trailer.
Best to have a helper when installing the Curt hitch!

Not the Curt, but in October on my 2021 Job 2 I installed the Torklift Stainless Steel EcoHitch https://torkliftcentral.com/2021-ford-mustang-mach-e-trailer-hitch . Same use case for mountain bike hitch rack and light in-town brush and leaf trailering. It has a super robust construction and 8 bolt attachment. Only the exposed receiver is stainless steel but entire hitch is well powder coated. It looks great on the car and is barely noticeable. Only drawback I can see is that it does not extend out from the bumper and some bike racks might need an extender. For example the 1-up Equip-D probably can't be stored in the full upright position. I think It will need to be one notch back for storage.

There is a good forum thread on installation. I recommend using a pair of wheel ramps. Also cut the bumper cover only about 5" deep and just bend it back. don't cut it off. Make the cut width just slightly larger than the receiver. Also wait to cut the diaper after it's installed. Just trim it to size and also just bend back. Entire back diaper does not need to be removed. just rear and screws and plastic things.

I installed the Tekonsha/Draw-Tite 118840 wiring assembly. It has plugs tap into the tail lights and seems to be electrically isolated. I got this one from Amazon which was cheaper for some reason than other sites.

I tapped the 12V from the right rear accessory plug. Don't see any need to go all the way to the LV battery in the frunk. There are threads on removing the panel to access the accessory plug. Attach the 4-Way Flat connector behind the receiver with strong outdoor Velcro.

I'm an engineer but I think anyone who is handy can install it.

To install the wiring, I followed this video. It advocates going all the way to the LV battery in the frunk. Depending on your current draw, the SteveMach-ee solution is probable adequate.

Yes, forgot to mention that the bike hitch and light trailer lights that I use are all low current LEDs. So know your use case ? .

Nice… I just installed the same Torklift hitch and Tekonsha wiring kit. I bought it all back in November, but waited until I could use my father’s lift to do the installation. He’s been waiting on a rebuilt carb for his 1940 Buick. The installation went well, but the Mach-E is a beast to get on the lift. His lift is a very popular model with mechanics… and there’s no way to get all four lift arms to the appropriate lift points on the MME.

I ran into that at my local mchanic when trying to swap out summer rims. Had my pucks all installed but could not get the lift properly lined up to raise the MAch-E...
