I got this gateway module update two days ago. My car didn’t charge last night. When I got up this morning FordPass said waiting to charge at 11 PM Thursday (yesterday). Which would be the normal scheduled time, but it’s now 5 am Friday.

My phone also updated to iOS 18.2.1 last evening so I don’t know if it’s related.

I walked out to the car and it started doing my morning departure time (preparing battery and cabin for departure) message in FordPass. I turned off the departure time in FP and the car started charging. Thankfully I’m working from home today so no harm.
Glad you mentioned this.

This happened to me as well. I (thought) I started a charge yesterday morning around 7:30 am and everything looked normal on the IC as it showed the estimated completion time etc. Then I happened to look at the app a couple hours later and it said "waiting to charge", not having actually charged at all to that point. So I started it from the app and was then concerned that it wasn't charging because the percentage seemingly wasn't increasing. Went to the car to confirm it was supposedly charging and everything seemed fine. Removed the charger and started over just to be sure. From there, everything was fine and it charged up as expected.

We'll see whether that was a one-off thing like (hopefully) the random battery charge status bar that kept popping up every few seconds as I was driving into work that morning. It did not do it on the way home.

If you’re just now getting BC 1.3 and its next in sequence update you still can’t use the public charging app while driving unless you’ve had a subsequent update. That will come soon™. :)
Oh. I’ve never tried using public charging while in motion. I’ll give it a shot.

I just tried using Public Charging while driving. Whenever the car was moving, the display showed “For your safety, some features have been disabled while your vehicle is in motion.” Whenever I came to a stop, the normal Public Charging screen appeared.
This is actually the behavior I would expect as I wouldn’t expect to be able to either enter text into a search field, or scroll through a list and look for a charger, while driving.

The Public Charging now works while underway in my Lightning. It's a big improvement to have a way to navigate to Tesla Superchargers. Unfortunately Public Charging passes the location of a destination, not the location of a DC Fast Charger. Thus no preconditioning en route.

I can no longer remotely start the climate control in my car since receiving this update. I tried it three different times today and got a failed message in FordPass each time. I haven’t tried setting up a scheduled departure time since receiving this update yet. That’ll happen Saturday morning.

It’s not a big deal temperature wise as our winters are brutally mild here but it shouldn’t be failing.
Fortunately Ford Pass still starts climate control in my 2021 Job 1 since the update. I just tried it this morning.

Interesting. I wonder why it’s not disabled on the lightning? Are you able to bring up the keyboard and type in the search box? And scroll through the list of chargers presented?

I’ve never really understood “preconditioning”, so I can’t comment there.

Yep. No issues with remote climate control here (other than the lack of controls).

My Lightning received the update that makes it useable underway as have later model Mach Es.

You can scroll through a limited list while moving. I'll have to test for the search box. I haven't needed to DCFC the Lightning much since getting that update. Someone here may have used it more.

Cool. Personally, I’m surprised Ford is permitting this, given how cautious they are about anything distracting (for example, limitations in navigation, etc).

It’s a navigation program, you need to be able to use it while the car is moving. It’s also the only program from Ford that actually has the supercharger locations.

I wish that I had the update for 22 Select that allows you to use the Public Charging app while driving. When I go into the app while driving I get that safety message.

Still waiting for Ford to up the nav with the Tesla superchargers. Ford said that it’d be done by the end of 2024 and here we are in mid Jan 2025 and the nav still doesn’t have the superchargers.
