Sooo...before he bought the car then.... I think he should call the BEV team and have them get with the local dealer to see if they can complete this repair properly with a new APIM. Open a case and have somebody look into why the APIM wasn't replaced when a RVC was generated. Unless of course the reason was that the car was already out of warranty at that point and the owner didn't want to have to pony up.....for something that was originally Ford's fault.@Mike G On 7/1 & 7/2, a dealer tried to update his APIM and it failed. They generated a repair validation code as if they were going to replace his APIM, but it never happened. They updated many of the ancillary modules on 7/1, too.
@Sargepepper I think you can fix this yourself with a Mongoose. I know you are new here and I don't want to overload you with information, but if you hit dead ends with the dealer and want to take matters into your own hands to fix this, let me know. I run a Mongoose loaner program where I can loan you one at no costs if you don't want to spend $600 buying one. Waiting list is maybe 6-8 weeks out right now, so that'll give you time to get acclimated with the process.
