Way behind is the understatement of the year.

It's unlikely you'll get any updates until somebody addresses the issue with your car's inability to have the APIM updated that likely began back in the fall of 2021 when OTA 1.7.0 corrupted thousands of cars APIM's and caused Ford to put out several TSBs to address the issue. In many cases the APIM (or gateway or TCU) was simply replaced outright to fix the issue.

But the previous owner of your car never had that addressed (just like they apparently never had the glass windshield and roof recalls performed either).

See the box at the bottom that says "Additional Updates" to get an idea of how behind the Ford server thinks you are (in addition to the items in the list above that). I counted 15 updates behind in the gateway, APIM (Sync), and TCU (telematics modem) categories.

If the dealer you bought this car from was a Ford dealer there's a separate issue. Ford dealers cannot sell vehicles to customers with open safety recalls like the 21S42 and 21C22 glass recalls.
I guess the question to ask here is - CAN I do this myself (with the appropriate hardware) or is this something to be done by experts?

Techs will update the powertrain items in this list as part of the HVJB repair.

So that's the PCM and SOBDMB in this list...which is very strange since I've never seen just those two modules by themselves in a list of available powertrain updates. (For reference the full list of powertrain modules are the PCM, ABS, BECM, SOBDM, SOBDMB, and SOBDMC) Makes me wonder if a previous update didn't go as planned.

While the car is still in the shop you might want to prevail on the service advisor to ask the tech to update the rest of those modules as a customer goodwill gesture (as Ford themselves have suggested when a car is in the shop for a HVJB replacement).

I just wanted to buy a car and don't know the true history yet or potential problems as it's pretty far away: WF0 TK3 ......
Thank you in advance

EDIT: I did try to do it myself but not even sure where to start. Went on the motorcraft site, tried to create an account but it keeps defaulting to a UK address even though I'm not in UK and specifically said another country.

EDIT2: If Fordpass is not activated, then there is no way to see the current km count or HV battery health? The local dealership could basically only confirm what I got from the commercial seller and nothing else.

I have been reading through this thread since I picked up my (new to me) 2021 Premium AWD. I've been trying to be patient to see if any OTA updates might happen over the last two months that I've owned it, but nothing yet. I'm starting to wonder how far behind it might be. Still learning a lot about it, but absolutely love the car. Originally went to the dealership for a different car, but as soon as we drove the Mach E, we knew it was the one for us!

Would you please check:
3FMTK3SU3MMA10190

Any insights would be much appreciated!
Build date 30 Jan '21.

You have no outstanding field service action campaigns.

Car looks to be performing well according to the health status.

Here's the list of available software update for your VIN:

You have no pending OTAs, and currently showing no OTA history (only goes back 60 days).

Build date 1 June '21. Originally sold in Germany. My info shows roughly, 22000 miles on the odometer.

Car last received an OTA on the 31st of January for the gateway module (GWM), Ford Power-Up 3.5.3.4 .

12V battery SOC is down to 43%, but it's likely because the car is sitting and not being driven.

Many thanks! Was there no info regarding HV battery health?
The mileage is likely in km, but I have no idea of the real ones, just the ones listed by the latest service in 2023 and the ones listed by the dealer, which is an even lower number. No idea when the status was updated but I assume when the last update was received.

You have no available updates left in the FDRS list to apply.

I believe what they may be referring to is the "Factory Reset" option in Sync. It will remove your phone from PAAK. It will clear out any settings you've made, your "Home" location in nav (which will break any charging schedules you've created).

I get why they're trying that option. They basically jsut want to do a complete reset to see if that will clear out anything that may be causing the issues you're having with your Android features (I'm an Iphone user so I'm not much help in that area).

Doing the Factory Reset is like starting completely over. It's not really hard and doesn't take long if you've ever had to do it before...but the first time it may take longer because you've never done it before and aren't aware of all the things that you'll have to re-setup.
Hi Mike,
Thanks again for your help.
I'm taking the car in again this Wednesday and they are giving me a loaner (a Lightning!) because they have to keep the car overnight to do the troubleshooting and probably at least a factory reset and try to figure out the issue....
I'll keep you posted on this!
Thanks again
Mark

HV Battery health status was blank due to the car not reporting it's status recently (data is not current).

Can I ask someone to please take a look at my VIN again when they have a moment - 3FMTK4SE5PMA81961. The car had TSB 24-2141 applied in June and the dealer said they had to reapply that same update back in December when it was in for the wiper recall. It also hasn't seen an OTA software update since October 16th, which seems like a long time. Lastly, twice in the last week it hasn't started charging when scheduled when plugged in to my home charger. Based on all of that it seems to have some minor software issues going on, so if someone could take a look I'd appreciate it very much :)

You have a set of powertrain updates available in FDRS. But that's not unusual, since they release new ones 4-5 times a year. So even if your dealer updates them, there will be another iteration along within a few months (sometimes weeks) after that.

You don't currently show anything in FDRS that would end up being sent out as an OTA to your car. Which is probably why you haven't gotten any.

I don't see anything that would cause the charging issue you're having, but you might try deleting your schedules and "Home" location in Nav and re-setting all that up again to see if the problem is fixed.
