LED lights only cause an issue when ON, so opening a door should be a non-issue. The issue here is the opener not going through the glass, which is proven by the roof and side windows working just fine. As was stated, Homelink is no less secure than an opener on a visor, and can't be taken.

Homelink buttons didn't work too well for my old openers.

FYI - Homelink buttons don't work with modern openers like Chamberlain/Liftmaster that have "security 2.0+"

For me, I have ratgdo devices and use the home assistant app to open and close the doors.

Curious problem with my new automatic garage door opener remote. My 24 Premium Mach-e windshield totallyblocks the signal but it works through the panoramic roof glass or the side windows (most of the time.) A little annoying but manageable. Anyone else having this?
I would definitely program the buttons on the visor. I also added a device that connects to my Apple HomeKit. From farther away than the Homelink buttons work, I can activate Siri and say "Open the Garage Door".

Me neither and I’m skeptical.
I'd test it right now and report back to you, but it is far too cold to have that door opening and closing while I'm messing with the bulbs. Give me a few days and I'll report back.

Not so. We have three liftmaster openers with security plus 2.0. I had no problems programming the home link buttons in either the Mach-e or the Raptor. The gate to our lot also has a very recent Liftmaster opener, I programmed Homelink for that as well.

Thanks everyone. I have done the homelink in the past but not with this car. Was concerned about easier break ins but probably a non-issue.
Also, would have never thougt the darker area around the rear view mirror would be better for the signal, or that an LED bulb could be the culprit (although it does work from non-front windshield angles.
Appreciate your input.
As others have mentioned, the windshield can block signals and the shaded area is specifically to be used for any RF type device - I suspect the "clip on visor" handheld remotes might have this issue. The solution (again, has others have mentioned) is to program the homelink buttons and use those.

I hadn't heard of the LED bulb issue, but did create this response to add one more scenario that drove me nuts for awhile. I couldn't get my garage door to CLOSE sometimes using homelink OR the remote, even OUTSIDE the car. Some extensive troubleshooting eventually revealed that the sun hitting the "light beam safety sensors" that go across the bottom of the door was preventing the door from trying to close. The only way the door would close is if I "shaded" the sensor, OR waited for the sun to move position a bit. Still trying to work out some rube goldberg contraption to shade the sensor itself - unsuccessfully. Just adding this here in case anyone else runs into this scenario.

My opener is really old, so not HomeLink-compatible. Luckily, I have a HomeKit-enabled garage door opener switch. I just use my phone over 5G or WiFi and don’t worry about the glass. ??

I have to get a lot closer at both condos for them to open, my old car would 'open' the doors at about 25 feet, with my MME it usually means getting to 8 feet.

Same here. Have two Chamberlain Security+ 2.0 garage door openers and they work with all my vehicles visor Homelinks including the Mach-E’s. Although I use Siri to open and close them.

I think I had a bit more of an issue setting up the Raptor (2020 model year) than the mme but they both worked out fine. The new gate opener was quite easy to get running on both though.

Just had to replace my 20 year old opener after the motor shaft sheared off. New one is Security+ 2.0 and it programmed easily with HomeLink in both the MME and Prius Prime. I can hit the button over 50 yards away and it opens so I don't have to wait.

My only problem with the HomeLink in the MME is that I can't see the buttons at night.

I will say that even Homelink seems to struggle a bit in my MME depending on which way the car is oriented when I push the button. My garage door faces the street. If I approach with the door on my right, all is well. If I approach with the door on my left, it struggles. I think the visor location results in signal getting out forward-right, but not so much forward-left. Once I am even with door on my left, it works.
